12:11 AM
@Nick You're completely confused :) I do not think that the -14/+12 is applied to the Rep Hunter.

@Scratte maybe so but still no hat :(

The idea of the expanded date is that some users are on the 23rd while other are on the 24th. So the users that's on the 24th doing something that earns a hat for that date do not feel cheated, everyone can earn it in the UTC -14/+12 Hours, since they did it on their 24th, even if it wasn't actually on the 24th UTC.
I see. As far as I understand the requirement, you've met it (not that I can every come to understand how it's even possible! :-)

Bye guys off PC now

You're only a snail? With a hat now :) Have fun.

@Scratte Bye!
@Scratte Do you reproduce this:
0
Q: Why is my reputation tab points higher than achievements drop-down in the top right corner?

U11-ForwardI am looking at my reputation today, it shows on my reputation tab that I got 295 rep today, here is the image: As you can see, I got 295 reputation, but when I look at my achievements drop-down in the top right corner, it shows that I only got 291 reputation, as you can see below: I personally...

12:19 AM
@U11-Forward I have uBlocked that achievement icon in the right corner :D
Did you downvote 4 Answers.. perhaps yesterday? Or somewhere down where we can't see it on the image?

3 hours later…
2:52 AM
wait how did i get quarantine hair i am not even sure

3:32 AM
Can I get into trouble for my avatar?

1 hour later…
4:36 AM
@Scratte I'll put a warning. Let me know if you make a user on the site, I'll award the hat to your manually.
@DavidPostill the script runs every five minutes. Iirc, all post must be positive
@Scratte it will reset after 2 hours and your can take it again if you want. The validation on mse only actually runs when you finish the last question
Congrats to the 18 users who have helped to save Sparkles thus far

@YaakovEllis that seems unfair if you get a 0-voted accepted answer because OP doesn't have sufficient rep to upvote and not enough other people see the post (e.g. stackoverflow.com/q/65417488/9473764, OP has 1 rep and the question only got 41 views) . It actively encourages me to delete answers that don't quickly get an upvote in case they get accepted, because otherwise I can't the hat.

I hear. But that is the trigger and it is not going to change. Maybe someone will end up upvoting them...

5:20 AM
@YaakovEllis I guess someone felt sorry for me.

6:14 AM
Thank you to whoever you were.

1 hour later…
7:14 AM
@YaakovEllis Hi Yaakov, when you say "after the beta began" (Q5), do you mean the private beta or the public beta?
@YaakovEllis and does first year means first 365 days or just 2008? That question is not clear enough.

7:29 AM
Balalaika must be related to upvoted comments

7:46 AM
@Eran public beta (but was by invitation only initially, using a password)
@Eran approximately 365 days. The kind of milestone that you might, for example, commemorate with a blog post that goes over the stats from the first year. Theoretically speaking.
@Scratte also, there is no way we are going to attempt to figure out and apply things based on users actual timezones.

8:00 AM
@YaakovEllis yeah, I assumed there would be a blog post, but I didn't find it. Then I tried data explorer queries, but I wasn't sure which dates to enter. Now it doesn't matter, since I reset it and got new questions. It's a fun game, but interferes with my work, so I'll have to try some other time.

@Eran No, no you got that wrong ;) Your work interferes with the game ;)
Muahahaha I know all the answers now :D
This was fun @Yaakov I learned quite a few new tidbits :)

8:24 AM
@YaakovEllis Interestingly, I've had no luck whatsoever in arriving at anything close to that number using either SEDE or the 20k+ user analytics tools.
So... I found the hint very helpful. :-)
Just spent the last... way too long trying various combinations of parameters on SEDE, trying to imagine just how devious you might be.
Turns out, not at all. :-)

I liked how there was no need to use SEDE to answer the questions (of course for some, using it might go faster if you know where to look), that makes it more fun for people that don't know SQL :)

Huh, yeah, I've been using SEDE for almost everything.
I thought it was an attempt to finally get me to practice some SQL.

@Eran I linked to some blog posts here. You might want to look at some of them when you try again later

@Eran Resetting it gives you different questions? Hmm...
I'd be curious to see what they all are.
I guess I have to wait until after it's over and Yaakov posts a blog thingadongdong.

8:41 AM
@CodyGray You can play again in a few hours, and if you reset before answering question nr. 10, you can rotate through all of them :) I did.

Oops. Already completed it.

Do you have a photographic memory, such that you can list all the reasons here?

I wrote down all the answers, but not the exact questions XD

Haha, that's the least interesting part!

8:44 AM
Isn't there a game show where you get the answer, then have to think of the question? ;)

42

What is Jeopardy!
(Exclamation mark is in the name... It's not because I'm excited)

Hahaha
@Eran What is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything?

Or what's the answer to 6 * 7

Uh oh, math. Suddenly, things got hard.

8:49 AM
Or "What number can you introduce without fear to your parents" ;)

...Huh?

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a comic science fiction series created by Douglas Adams that has become popular among fans of the genre and members of the scientific community. Phrases from it are widely recognised and often used in reference to, but outside the context of, the source material. Many writers on popular science, such as Fred Alan Wolf, Paul Davies, and Michio Kaku, have used quotations in their books to illustrate facts about cosmology or philosophy. == The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42 == In the radio series and the first novel...

Oh
All these years, and I'd missed that thing about the parents.

Surprisingly, there are a lot of questions you can answer with 42 ;)
Shame on you. I only read it this summer and even I knew that! :P

Google didn't find anything.
All I got was a bunch of stuff about people afraid to introduce their significant other to their parents, and I kept thinking, "Man, the only thing harder than introducing your significant other to your parents would be introducing 42 significant others to your parents!"

8:52 AM
I think my brother is at 21 or something already, so.... :P
Depends on whether you have to introduce them all at once, or cumulatively

Yeah, all at once is what I was thinking.
I assume your brother didn't structure it that way.
Although if he did, props to him, I suppose.
Also sympathies.

Hahaha no not all at once, luckily ;)
It's hard to keep up with at times though... you mention a name and he looks at you like you just cursed him, and apparently the relationship is already over again.

Yeah, that's how it is for me with my cousins' significant others around the holidays. You'll ask, "Hey, what about <name>? Is she coming this year?", and they look at you thoroughly baffled. I remember the name of their girlfriend from a year ago, but they evidently don't.

@YaakovEllis I will try. Also BTW oddly enough I think I may have also used some reworked quote from that story in the past. Weird coincidence.

Questions that require you to use the site search can really trip you up when you have mod privileges. #modproblems

9:02 AM
@CodyGray 15 total questions, reset gives you 10 random ones
@Derpy which story?
@CodyGray there is a question that can be answered via site search or sede (I just adjusted to accept answers given by both, even though site search is more accurate)

@YaakovEllis Yup. When I first tried, I was using SEDE, and that was deemed wrong. I figured it was because the SEDE dump was out of date, so I switched to the site search. That answer was wrong, too. Took me a bit before I figured out that the diamond was almost certainly to blame.
Neat that you added the SEDE answer, too, though.

Just changed by answers array from ImmutableList<string> to ImmutableList<HashSet<string>> and gave it the ability to have multiple correct answers for each one, if relevant

@YaakovEllis Once upon a Wint Bash morrow, while I pondered, full of sorrow .....

@Derpy I worked hard on my poem, tried to maintain the rhyming and syllable structure even. You are the first one to notice...

Do you find it more challenging to write good code, or good poetry?

Ael
9:09 AM
Ah, I probably missed something ^^

Gotta read the question carefully.

@YaakovEllis I will only say I love 5. :P
Now I kinda hope for a "Which user is best known for scolding Shadow when he is uncouth?"

@CodyGray poetry every time

"Which user is best known for folksy gardening metaphors?"

@Derpy I almost put in a question about Shadow
@CodyGray I need every question to have a real way to discover the correct answer. "Been lurking on MSE for a while" isn't enough.

9:16 AM
@CodyGray O.o Since search doesn't show deleted posts by default (even to mods), I have no clue which question you're talking about XD

@Tinkeringbell Um, it doesn't?

@CodyGray Not that I know of, no.
As far as I know, I have to do deleted:1 to actually see them.

Couldn't the answer to the question "How many questions on Stack Overflow have over 1M views?" change over the course of a few days, or even hours?

I wonder what I am talking about.
I clearly see a difference.

Yeah now I'm curious too :D

9:18 AM
Historically locked posts are, perhaps, excluded from anonymous user's searches?

I was logged in, association bonus and all...

@Nick But you can't do that. You can't delete an accepted Answer ;)
@YaakovEllis I'm not sure it worked. No worries. I like the hat I'm wearing, and I'm hardly going for the leaderboard anyway :)

OK, that's bizarre. Showing 50 results per page, the anonymous user search tops out at 10 pages. But my moderator search goes on for 14 more pages. Looks like identical results, presented in the same order, for the results that are in common between the two.

@YaakovEllis That makes sense. Personally I'd have expected it would have been the date in just UTC, so I think it's awesome that you're making a day expand to make users happy.

@CodyGray Yeah, opening an incognito tab only gives me 500 too...

9:22 AM
Maybe anonymous user's searches are capped?

@JacobB yes. there are multiple correct answers accepted for that though (including leeway in case one or two more sneak in)

@YaakovEllis ah, Okay.

@CodyGray Perhaps, yes...

It's fascinating to have been here 10+ years and still learn new things about how it works every day.

That's the fun part of egg hunts like these ;)

9:25 AM
A long time ago, Nick said the search results were capped at 2000, but that's replying to Brad, who was a moderator.
And search has changed a lot since then.

OK, I managed to answer 10 questions! It was encouraging to know there were only 15 possible questions.

@CodyGray Ahh. Well, that's a good warning then, and too bad for the people that don't want an SO account but still want the hat :(

I think it's flexible enough...

@YaakovEllis since you said "almost", could you share for fun what you had in mind?
also, unrelated. Why is @Cody trying to become Bart? :P

@Derpy What do you mean?
People have been confusing us for years.

9:33 AM
It is a famous user on Meta.SE. Always been known for having an avatar with a pair of eyeglasses, to the point that everyone here refers to him as that :P . Nothing to do with Simpsons's Bart

Yes... I know him well.

I guess angle is different :P

I'm the other famous user with eyeglasses.

@CodyGray Say Hi for me if you see him anywhere, he hasn't dropped by the Tavern in ages :)

Anyway, Christmas is on the loose.

9:35 AM
@Tinkeringbell I haven't spoken to him in quite a long time, either.
People seem to have stopped confusing us after The Great Meta Schism. I mostly keep to MSO.

The internet connection is VERY unstable today, so if I don't reply... you know why.

To the point where folks don't even recognize me now!

Well you've been a bit more active on MSE the past week, I think I saw you ;)

Hats, didn't you know?

Yeah, I've heard rumors.

9:47 AM
..... kinda grateful someone put a spoiler on that picture that is using one of the hats as a pair of swimming trunks.

No concerns about the one wearing underwear on his head?
Why does that speedo answer have no upvotes?! What's wrong with you people?

@CodyGray It looks like a diaper to me. Not really attractive ;P

@Tinkeringbell You're telling me you'd think a man with those abs unattractive if he were wearing a diaper? In the words of Ollie: "Ooookay then..." ;-)

@CodyGray ;) You're a.) Assuming everyone likes abs and b.) assuming abs make up for every other flaw :P

Oh, good. I won't worry about wasting time with all that working out. I'll just make sure to avoid wearing diapers.
Here I had it wrong all this time.

9:53 AM
Please, stop. I had managed to forget about the existence of One Piece's Senior Pink.

I don't even know what that is. To the Google!

Since I'm lazy... summary? :D

Don't.
Trust me.

I did... It's some weird manga series, that has a character who is fat but dresses like a baby.

Well, One Piece is the top selling Japanese manga.

9:56 AM
Is that disagreement with my use of the adjective "weird", or evidence supporting it?

As for the character... he is probably the weirdest and in a way creepiest yet.
@CodyGray Neither. I just meant that most characters are still very anime-like but by comparison look quite normal.

Ah well. Today I learned a bit more about the wondrous world of manga.
(All knowledge I gained on the matter so far has been gained involuntarily)

Likewise.

How precise do we need to be for this question: How many registered accounts were created in the first year of Stack Overflow?

@TobyMak you can try finding a blog post that has the exact number.

10:05 AM
Ok thanks for the hint.

If you don't first spend an hour running searches in SEDE, you'll miss all the fun! :-\

@Tinkeringbell that's been the plan all along. To get you on Anime.SE

I have an account there, and I even think I visited it this week because there was a HNQ question about copyright (which is always interesting XD)
So you're trying too hard ;)

@Tinkeringbell this week? I remember one from a few weeks ago, must have missed this.

@Panda I almost gave you a bounty for showing off your hat. It was too cute. I figured you'd rather I give the bounty to someone else, though :)

10:09 AM
@Derpy Might've been the week before then, definitely not much earlier.

@YaakovEllis Can I stealthy edit your post and rename the unicorn to "Sparkle" without the S?.... because... reasons.

@Panda I guess this is fine with you :)

Rob
Thanks for "This is Fine", it's, well you know ...

:D It kinda looks okay on my parrot too

Now I got Balalaika on MSE. I already have it on SO. I still have no idea what's the trigger. I didn't post any question, answer or comment today. I awarded a bounty. I searched some posts. That's about it.

10:15 AM
I'm pretty sure the Balalaika is given when you do something three times or three days.

@Eran I guess that was the kinda lucky then, since I had just posted an answer there.
Got the dog.

@Derpy Yes, that was the point of that bounty :)
Shouldn't "Bûche de Noël" be available now?

..... this is ... not that fine, I guess.

@Eran Is it the 25th where you're at?

@Scratte didn't all the hats have a +-12 range for timezones reasons?

10:23 AM
@Eran That was a good idea :) I'll pay it forward ;)

@Derpy Yes. So that someone, anyone, being at the 25th doesn't throw a fit when they don't get the hat :P But relying on it to get it on the 24th seems.. weird? :)

@Scratte it is somewhere in the world. And I just got it

@Eran Hmm, I can only find the number of active users.

@Eran OH I'd never expected to be considered for the bounty! Thanks!!
That question was indeed my candidate for This is Fine. One of the rare times to be happy not getting the bounty :)

@Scratte What I meant is that time-based hats are awarded based on UTC time, with a +-12 range added so that users won't have to be online during the night.

10:30 AM
The parrot is on fire...

The user local time isn't considered, so it is perfectly possible to get the hat when YOU are still on 24.

@Derpy No one would have be online during the night in a 24 hour period, unless they hibernate.

@CodyGray I could use the extra heat.... my room is cold :(

@Tinkeringbell Overclock the PC
or just disable the cpu fan in the Bios setting

I don't have the rights to do that on the work laptop :(

10:32 AM
Interesting they modified the design of This is Fine slightly this year.

Just open Photoshop or Visual Studio or something. Your lap will be roasting in no time.
@Panda It's fine

@CodyGray Autocad helps a little, but not much ;)

@CodyGray nahh... Visual Studio isn't enough.... SharePoint, on other hand....

@CodyGray haha

@Tinkeringbell ArcGIS?

10:34 AM
@Derpy Nope, no ArcGIS.

(and also, out of curiosity... what you do with Autocad? Is it at least a little interesting? or boring as hell?)

In other words, do you use it for anything other than heating up the CPU and GPU?

Mostly boring: Just checking to see if the drawings are okay when people complain the software isn't handling them correctly. 9 times out of 10, there's more wrong with the drawing than the software I made ;)
E.g. "It doesn't register these gas pipelines"... Eh, yeah, that's because there's an 8mm gap between the two on the drawing, and in gas pipelines, gaps are not allowed.

Writing your own AutoCAD clone?
@Tinkeringbell Shouldn't that be a case where you display a warning message?

@Derpy Somehow I missed your message. I'm also curious myself exactly which game got me banned. Maybe I'll find out after the whole bash ends.

10:38 AM
Working for a large grid operator. We get autocad drawings from contractors that made new gas or electricity lines, and I'm working on the software that puts those into an internal Smallworld system.
@CodyGray Dingding! We did.

The message being "drip drip drip drip" or "pfffsssss"...

@Scratte Bzzzzzt too :P

@Scratte Nah, that's the sound effect.
@Tinkeringbell Ah, that's cool, you get to play board games at work!

I see.. That's usually how I notice those things :P Why is my floor wet there?!? What's that odd sound?

@CodyGray I'm not a fan of board games, so if that was true I would switch jobs :P

10:42 AM
@YaakovEllis There's a glaring error in one of the questions

@Panda Pretty sure that in my case it was NOT the bot. I have done multiple runs afterward and none was deemed "suspected". So I probably got banned for something else ... days before noticing. I think it may have been when I tested a cheat for T-Rex found on google to see how differently the game would react. That in response to my original warning to Yaakov that some users were using code from Google without disclosure

@Tinkeringbell What?! How is that even possible?

It should say "private beta", not "public beta".

@TobyMak Area 51 says there aren't sites in private beta right now, so it doesn't matter ;)
'public beta' works :D
@CodyGray Okay there's one board game I can kinda like but I mostly find them boring, waiting for your turn and stuff.

I was hoping it was the bot because I had some experience with "macro detection" before on Ultima Online private servers, and I was curious if he implemented something similar to what we did (pattern detection)

10:44 AM
@YaakovEllis Is there something I should know for the question "What is the average number of weeks needed to complete any project at Stack Overflow?"

@Derpy That makes sense. I knew the bot script I used wasn't suspicious (and definitely not what got me banned). And I doubt the anti-cheating mechanisms can easily detect bots.

You have to play strategy games, so that you're busy thinking while everyone else is playing.

And I don't know how you've learned to play them, but over here everyone is so competitive that things like Monopoly or Catan never work, because no one wants to accidentally help someone else XD

I am fairly competitive...

@Panda I hoped it did some pattern detection thing, doesn't seem the chase.

10:45 AM
I'll stick with playing computer games. Some of those are fun to play together too :D
(and yes, even then I manage to somehow turn things into a competition)

@JacobB It's.. a meme :) It's always the same. It also applies to decades or months or years or days or hours :)

@Derpy Nah, I had my doubts. Bots are too realistic.

You're acting like competition is bad!
This is the whole point of games.

@TobyMak no, it shouldn't

@JacobB You need to know that average == arithmetic mean.

10:47 AM
@Panda As I said, we did had some basic Macro prevention on Ultima.

Sloppy wording there on Yaakov's part. ;-) But I guess there's no ambiguity since it would be impossible to find a median or mode, given the input data set.

@CodyGray Heh.. even having a math degree.. I actually typed it wrong the first time :D

@CodyGray Oh, Thanks! I finally got it.

@CodyGray Not necessarily bad in essence, but it's certainly making playing boardgames with my parents/brothers a really bad experience ;)

@Derpy I see, not an expert on bots myself. But that would be really interesting if implemented in the game.

10:49 AM
@CodyGray Is it? I thought it was suppose to just be fun?

And if people aren't interested in me hurrying them along or barking orders when playing online.... That might go wrong quickly too

@Derpy what did you think would happen when you experimented with the /hat-dash/please-ban-me-because-i-cheated route? :-)

Something that came to mind and I mentioned in the first post I made is that one COULD try to detect if the jumps have a precise cadence (for example because they all happen on multiples of 5millisecond due to a setTimeout loop), or they show unrealistic response time (like every jump is performed VERY CLOSE to the obstacle) and so on....
@YaakovEllis ??????? what?
I visited that URL? WHEN?

@Derpy just joking

aaaaaahhhhh

10:50 AM
though maybe you did visit it without knowing it (did the game ever vanish and say "you are banned because you cheated"? if so, then you hit that route)

You got me, but for a second I feared someone put a troll in some question

@Derpy that is on my list of "things to do if Stack gave me a month to work on this"
I am on vacation now. dont with hacking hat dash for the time being

@Tinkeringbell If your family members don't hate each other after playing a game, you weren't playing right. Risk is good for this. Diplomacy is even better; it will literally ruin relationships.
@Scratte Competition is fun!

@CodyGray Perhaps our problem is that we don't need games to hate each other then ;)

@YaakovEllis Yeah, sure, I don't blame you for not having that. I was just saying that if you did I would have asked for some sort of blog post about that AFTER the event ended for "learning purpose"

10:53 AM
@YaakovEllis Will Hat Dash still be back next year? With even better anti-cheating mechanisms?

@Derpy hoping to eventually do a post on it, and post my version of the game on github. I assume that there would be interest
@Panda definitely maybe

@YaakovEllis Sounds like fun!

@CodyGray I guess for some. I never found it to be fun at all.

@YaakovEllis you have a whole year to prepare. I expect this one :
or at least, if MLP isn't your thing....
(seriously, just joking here. But .... Robot Unicorn Attack would have been REALLY fitting)

Rob
@YaakovEllis, A Kwanzaa ("first fruits") hat would be a great addition. Examples: Igbo Ozo Chief Hat, Hausa Cap, Aso Oke Abeti Aja, etc.

11:01 AM
Given to users who start a cultural revolution? :-p

Not exactly the same, I know, but for now your best option

@Derpy Kofia seems more relevant
I assume Saint Lucia is about the Christian martyr
Although that might not be true, since Lucy's feast is traditionally celebrated on December 13, not 15.

It is indeed, I was just suggesting something visually similar

@YaakovEllis if you do follow @Derpy's ideas, I hope this is going to be the soundtrack:

@Derpy Didn't know anyone actually knew that site; I created it last year ;-)

11:07 AM
@RoryAlsop B.E.R. The night begins to shine or You are the one.

@Derpy Ah - I don't know them. But Gloryhammer is an awesome local band (aka Alestorm)
Dammit - got to question 10 and search fu is terribly weak. All the complex SEDE ones no problem. One I even solved with Excel. But which site was the origin of winterbash idea - has to be on a blog post somewhere
canne find it
dammit

@RoryAlsop Oh come on, you know that one ;)
Dig!

Tried Arqade, Movies, Sci-Fi
am now just trying all one by one
blimming brute force

Uh, one of those should have worked, @Rory.

Ehh... something may have broken then, one of those first three should've worked
Did you spell it right?

11:11 AM
wait... wrong video before

I won't tell you how far down the list I have got. With a 1 minute gap between each try...

:-(

THIS one is the official one

Thank you @CodyGray and @Tinkeringbell for stopping me going any further

11:12 AM
You're welcome, I guess ;)

ahem - spelin mistook

@RoryAlsop Better: now you can go back and retry all the ones you already tried.

I had the extra U in there of course

Ah, the British English spelling ;-)

the brain is on holiday spelling
I'm an idiot

11:12 AM
@RoryAlsop I used the url version first, I still think both should be right ;)

@Panda Good site really, the only nitpick it doesn't include the "troll hats"

@Tinkeringbell They're very proud of their custom name. I don't think it would be right to accept the generic version.

@Derpy The ones from 2012 iirc?

@Panda yep. Once they even included a Twilight Sparkle face.

There was even a question on it
15
Q: What is Nicholas Cage doing in Winter Bash?

fedmichI snoop around and looked at the CSS & the sprite image being used in the Winter Bash and found out there are quite a lot of hidden hats there. Do you guys know what those other hats are and what the requirements are needed?

Sadly, I couldn't find original images for the WB2013 secret hats.

11:16 AM
@CodyGray Meh. The blog post I found used the generic one too, so ...

@Panda 2013 also had THIS in the spritesheet
The reason behind this haunting image of Benny I did back then

@Derpy HAHA never noticed it
@Derpy That is haunting

also, had forgot about this

That combination of pear and phallic shaped parrot is still amusing :D

What is that from?
Was that a hat one year?

11:29 AM
No, there was a swag thing I believe, where Derpy made this :)

@Tinkeringbell since you HAD to say that again, I will also nitpick and say that based on your original account when I first made that I didn't notice and probably you didn't too (wasn't that pointed out to you recently?)

@Derpy Yep :P But I do like reminding you of it :P
It's the only defense I have against all the anime/manga stuff.

24
A: Time for some more swag!

SPArcheonWell, considering the current season and that the theme is the passing of time, I think an Advent Calendar is most appropriate here. Run the attached snippet to see it. var today = new Date(); $(".dialog").dialog({ autoOpen : false, modal : true, show : "blind", hide : "blind" ...

Oh, I see.
Yeah, I wasn't paying much attention to fun in 2018...

@CodyGray there are still some odd jokes in there if you have time to check every day. That said, some are very specific references that not everyone may get

I think I entered all? of the swag contests in 2018 XD

"but it doesn't matter now. A grue came and ate you. GAME OVER."
@Tinkeringbell I am still kinda salty the troll I left for you didn't work.
"To join the Stack Exchange cabal, ask to the parrot in the tavern"
I WAS hoping to get someone to actually ask you, thinking it was tied so some secret hat.

Hahaha
I think you're lucky no one did :P

The question clearly mentions "public beta", but the blog post where the answer was found says: It was one year ago today that the Stack Overflow private beta started. The first question was asked at 21:42 on July 31st, 2008.
A typed version of the question: How many registered accounts were created in the first year of Stack Overflow, from the beginning of the public beta (number accurate as of that date, includes accounts that have since been deleted)?
@YaakovEllis Will you now change the question?

@TobyMak From the same blog post: Which means we’ve been doing this thing in public for a full year now

But the question explicitly states "from the beginning of the public beta", which is not true.

@TobyMak changed

Thank you.

Are you counting hats awarded or users that passed the test? :)

@Scratte 38 hats awarded total minus 10 that I awarded manually. Doesnt count you.

I'm the one off. Awesome :) But I added it to my profile, so.. at least there's a record :)

You missed posting that, to miss getting the bounty and getting a "This is Fine" hat, so not so fine.

@YaakovEllis That is not time limited, I assume?

@Rob Actually his original answer was too early, before the bounty started.

@Panda Maybe I don't know and the Equestria Girl side series was started because of that picture.

Anyone progressed the idea Vexillologist is to do with comments/upvoted comments as that is all I have done today. Yesterday was the same except I answered a question and fixed some tags.

@QHarr I got vex on a site where the only thing I did was flag a post as spam that got autodeleted with my flag.

@ThomasMarkov ooh :-) Thanks

3:44 PM
So just sit in charcoal hq and wait for something to flag

@ThomasMarkov I got that hat (again!! Had it removed first time) today but hadn't really done anything different except get a number of upvotes on a comment and edit some tags,

Any guesses on Eliza Doolots? A few years ago there was a hat awarded for deleting comments, so I just deleted a bunch of old comments including 10+ upvoted comments... but no hat.
