The idea of the expanded date is that some users are on the 23rd while other are on the 24th. So the users that's on the 24th doing something that earns a hat for that date do not feel cheated, everyone can earn it in the UTC -14/+12 Hours, since they did it on their 24th, even if it wasn't actually on the 24th UTC.

I see. As far as I understand the requirement, you've met it (not that I can every come to understand how it's even possible! :-)

@DavidPostill the script runs every five minutes. Iirc, all post must be positive

@Scratte it will reset after 2 hours and your can take it again if you want. The validation on mse only actually runs when you finish the last question

@YaakovEllis that seems unfair if you get a 0-voted accepted answer because OP doesn't have sufficient rep to upvote and not enough other people see the post (e.g. stackoverflow.com/q/65417488/9473764, OP has 1 rep and the question only got 41 views) . It actively encourages me to delete answers that don't quickly get an upvote in case they get accepted, because otherwise I can't the hat.

@Scratte also, there is no way we are going to attempt to figure out and apply things based on users actual timezones.

@YaakovEllis yeah, I assumed there would be a blog post, but I didn't find it. Then I tried data explorer queries, but I wasn't sure which dates to enter. Now it doesn't matter, since I reset it and got new questions. It's a fun game, but interferes with my work, so I'll have to try some other time.
