@curiousdannii You can make tag edit suggestions. You can also create new tags. I'm not sure, but I think you can also propose synonyms. I see no reason to not do that.
They'll hit the review queue then the community will decide on them.

@fredsbend I don't have enough rep to suggest a synonym currently (the curse of a frequent retagger in a way). And tag synonyms suggestions so rarely succeed. What I'd like now is too see more discussion. If we can get to a consensus then we can start retagging the questions.

@curiousdannii - Thanks for keeping an eye out for the good of the site.

@TRiG I thought you would be interested to know that Idaho's first same sex marriage license was issued today. In my home town no less.
The comments are as you would expect, but this one user stood out.
Actually, that thread is a little scary because they are all my neighbors. I live next to these people!

^^ Poor copy editing there.
@fredsbend I'll read the rest of the thread later.

@fredsbend Those comments, while a little hostile, bring up some valid points. Many of which have good answers, some of which don't.

@Flimzy Are you referring to that one specific user?
But, yeah, in general, there's a lot of crap there.

@fredsbend Yes. The one you said stood out.

I'm thinking I need to look into a few of the things he said in the comment I linked.
Like 2 peter being pseudopigraphical (sp?) Or there being a 3 Corinthians.
I've never heard of 3 Cor.
I think I've heared that aboue 2 pete before.
Off to take a test. Two actually.

@fredsbend Good luck!

His comment on sola scriptura is represents a valid criticism of the way many do Biblical study (as evidenced by many question on our site). Although it also indicates a slightly warped view of sola scriptura. So it's a valid criticism with sloppy wording.

@fredsbend My Bible's commentary on 1 Corinthians says "We know that Paul wrote at least two other letters to Corinth (see 1 Cor 5:9; 2 Cor 2:3–4) in addition to the two that we now have; this theory holds that the additional letters are actually contained within the two canonical ones. "

This made me cry a little bit

Are you trying to ask about the general principles the PCUSA (and yes, you should edit your question to define that acronym, as @robertbristow-johnson says) uses to interpret scripture? Are you asking what the PCUSA believe about homosexuality, and how they support that belief with scripture? Are you asking about how the Bible should be interpreted (on either or both of the above points)? Or are you asking all of these things at once? Basically, I think your question is unclear, and hence not useful. — TRiG 45 secs ago
I'm tired, and it's possible I'm completely off base here.

@MattGutting Thanks. I rocked them both by the way. 90% on one and 98% on the other. Probably due to your good wishes.
@MattGutting Now that you mention that, I think I have heard of that, but never looked into it.

@fredsbend It;'s actually a pretty common theory. Some people think that 2 Corinthians 10 - is 3 Corinthians - but there is clearly a "sorrowful letter" that Paul wrote which isn't 1st Corinthians. It would be a good question here...

7:54 PM
@Flimzy What kind of cry exactly?

@fredsbend The "I wish Christian movie producers could create a credible movie one day" kind of cry.

@Flimzy Yeah, that makes more sense. It looks pretty darn hokey.

They don't show much of their obvious Nye/Ham knock-off debate
but what they do show makes it obvious that the producers don't even understand the evolutionist point of view
it looks like the entire movie is attacking a straw man
But the part that made me laugh the most was the ominous music when they said the word "evolutionist"

Yeah, about half way through I said to myself "What's with the bad guy music?"

hehe
I do sympathize with YECs who feel marginalized and trampled on by a secular school system. They often are treated with undue criticism and harshness. But movies like this don't make their case.

Gee, I wonder why.

Movies like this polarize. They make the YECs feel smug and vindicated, and they make the rest of the world snicker.
haha

@Flimzy Debates, in general, polarize, rather than illuminate facts and bring about consensus.
I think I've seen that girl before, though. Jordan Trovillion.

When someone make a fallacious argument you can link to it like this and the URL says it all: https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/strawman

haha
the "curious question" app advertized on that page also looks interesting

reminds me of a TED talk I watched recently

pdf warning.
I love those ted talks.
There's like 6000 of them out there and you can get most of them for free.
