I didn't necessarily want to say "magic doesn't exist", what I wanted to say is "the prohibition against magic in scripture is unrelated to whether it's 'working' magic or not".

@GratefulDisciple there are many levels of reality. I don't doubt that. :)
@Matthew I mean... you can call other spirits and maybe if you are forsaken enough from God they might answer you... idk.
@Matthew It generally falls under the category, that if technology advances far enough if you don't understand it then you cannot distinguish it from magic.
And it is possible to get ahead of your understanding... like soap. We dunno why people die less when we rinse our hands in water first, but it works.
@Matthew Yeah, but in this case taking a shortcut by excluding God, is sin. Excluding God from your life is sin.
@GratefulDisciple Probably because Narnia is not supposed to directly allude to being a fantastical version of the Bible? If he used "miracle" instead of "magic" it would be way more obvious.
And yes... the definition of Magic has changed, which is why my original post did say "no it isn't the harry potter stuff"

hmmm.
I strangely remember having an conversation here.
From a few months ago.
But cannot seem to find anything.

@Wyrsa Yes, that must be one of the main reasons.
@Wyrsa So you may need to be more specific which definition of Magic you are asking: from the Biblical period, from the medieval period (which is probably the sense that C.S. Lewis is using), or from the 21st century period which different denominations may define differently. But since everything the Bible says is relevant today, then there is something about Magic that can be defined today for Christian applications, so I agree with you that it IS a Christian question.
