As a result of the crucifixion of Jesus, all who truly accept Christ will receive salvation and have their sins washed away. But how is it just that the guilty person not be held accountable for the sin they committed?
@KorvinStarmast For today's homily (Catholic gospel reading today is John 20:19-31), the priest made a few points that a Protestant doesn't normally hear, such as 1) Thomas now makes the confession since he is now in the church (among the apostles); 2) The locked room symbolizes our fear and shame causing us to erect wall for self-protection, but Jesus breaks through our wall and gives us peace from reconciliation with the Father; 3) Resurrection is re-creation; in both God breathe the spirit to us.
