@Matthew yes that’s a fair point, I guess I was making the point that one would be more ready to accept a modern miracle than a past one.
Also I’m not aware of any catholic scholar or apologist who makes the claim that since these verses have alternative interpretations consistent with the doctrine, that the claim is thus proven.
Maybe that isn’t what you are saying but it’s worth pointing out.

Q: Was the theory of many extraterrestrial worlds considered blasphemous by the Roman Catholic Church during the XVI century?

Mikael JensenAccording to Martiniz A. A., the main accusation of Giordano Bruno from the inquisition is simply the ideas of many-worlds: No other accusation was invoked even half as much*. In another reference** Martinez goes on to describe the horror of the Catholic’s response: “First, Bruno had said in ni...

A: How do Young Earth Creationists account for civilisations with histories going back five thousand years or more?

Paul ChernochOne argument for the reliability of the Biblical record from a YEC standpoint that is less often mentioned is the accuracy of prophecy. The Jews were told to reject prophets if what they said did not come to pass. 21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken ...

The ability to build castles in the air is fascinating.

Q: Correct moderator response to a potentially off-target answer?

bobI wrote an answer (now deleted by a moderator) to this question that answered in the negative (the question asks for the biblical basis for doctrine X, and I provided biblical basis against doctrine X). My answer was deleted by a diamond mod with the comment that it was deleted as not answering t...

@SupportiveDante You answered better than the other guy (his explanation was exactly what the guys on Church Militant said was liberal fake-Catholic garbage last night), but I don't usually accept answers that are just links or just quotes.
I didn't know there was a general sense for ex cathedra. I usually send out my bull's ex lazyboy

Oh man, here's a tough question that just came to mind that I don't want to post: "According to the Catholic Church, is it morally permissible to kill an abortionist in the act"

@PeterTurner Wow. That is, indeed, a good question. Some off-the-cuff arguments against it; it would clearly be counterproductive to kill the woman, and since it's the woman actually trying to have the abortion, she'll probably just try again.
That's like asking if it's okay to kill a hired assassin to stop an assassination.

yeah, even Pope Francis called abortion hiring a hitman!
I would think it would clearly be moral to prevent a forced abortion.
But then you'd have to ask, is it moral to prevent an unsafe abortion? A legal abortion that seems unsafe (i.e. Kermit Gosnell), an illegal abortion that seems safe...
@Matthew yeah, I don't think killing the mother would accomplish anything since it would almost always kill the child

@PeterTurner it’s a difficult circumstance. I think one could make the argument that if one stumbles on an abortion, attempts to prevent it (without the attempt to kill) but does end up killing in the commotion, it wouldn’t be wrong.

@LukeHill That sounds like something that ought to be codified as a Good Samaritan law 🙂

... I don't always do 40-days for life, but when I do I do it after hours so I don't have to wrestle with these questions.

@PeterTurner this post has some comments you should move to chat: christianity.stackexchange.com/q/91293/56226
@Matthew sounds about right. I don’t think it would be right for a common citizen to actively seek out illegal abortions in an attempt to stop them. They should report them to the proper authorities and get the “doctor” arrested.
@PeterTurner pope Francis actually being a good pope and condemning evil unambiguously?!?!! Geesh it’s sad that’s a surprising to me.

@LukeHill I moved the comments to chat, you might want to edit your answer a bit!

Would non-Trinitarians take umbrage with that statement?
