@GratefulDisciple My wife loves it and can't wait for season 3.
@GratefulDisciple The message being spread throughout all episodes is "ordinary people from all walks of life, and then THIS happens" Calls to mind a psalm (95 IIRC) that holds a line "If today you hear the voice of God, harden not your heart" Hebrews 3:15 reprises that, somewhat. That's the meta message of the chosen, I think.

@KorvinStarmast For sure, but especially for the 1st century Jews expectant for a deliverer (Messiah). The show does an excellent job portraying the challenges that Jesus had to overcome (example: vs. the Zealots), the narrow path of not going public too soon with announcing how He is the Son of Man who can forgive sin and the Lord of the Sabbath (a reference not lost on the Pharisees), patient and slow teaching of the chosen disciples who each have their own ego, interest, agenda, and sins.
Most of all, I'm impressed with the true portrayal of a powerful and glorious God assuming a humble human being (social-status wise) who is pious but not pretentious (like some Pharisees), who can be tired like us but always patient, who exercise His divinity only a handful times with precision like a sharpshooter (such as when confronting the Pharisee while healing the paralytic), etc.
Watching the Chosen inspired me to highlight the two unique aspects of the Christian God in my recent answer: love in weakness, and love in the gutter, which is consistent with consistent with Robert Barron's book The Strangest Way.
@KorvinStarmast Cannot wait for season 3 myself, although I hope season 3 will be better than season 2, which is somewhat lesser quality (story arc wise) from season 1.

@KorvinStarmast Better news about season 3 here (Catholic World Report).
Another that is quite touching is the short arc of Mary Magdalene backsliding into drinking/gambling where we see a physical portrayal of a person literally leaving Christ (walking astray off the right path, S2E5 min 35,41-42), get deeper into sin (S2E6 min 11-13), convicted with the word in her heart, rescued by other believers (min 20-22), and receiving forgiveness by Jesus (min 28-31).

@GratefulDisciple yeah, that's a strong message. The embrace of the repentant sinner really iced the cake there.
