@SmokeDetector tp vandalism

@Nick Registered question as true positive. If you want to blacklist the poster, use trueu or tpu.

@SmokeDetector This edit is just from one useless piece of filler text to another piece of useless filler text. While the filler text shouldn't be permitted, I can't really say this is actually vandalism. OTOH, the easy evaluation from a machine learning POV is that the edit should be blocked, as it does go from words that make sense (but are useless filler) to just repeating "a" characters.

Oh, did someone already do that one I forgot to add yesterday?
Hmm, no. So why?

OK, yes, and I just missed it while reading the transcript. Well, in my defense, it's the weekend.

@Makyen yeah, I was in two minds, but it seemed that letting SD know it matched vandalism was more important. That's why I used tp instead of tpu...
... and I made a comment about filler text on the question

5:07 AM
"vandalism" is just an alias for "tp". It adds no more information to SD than just replying with "tp" feedback.
Oh, I guess never mind. You explicitly provided the "tp" feedback, with "vandalism" as a comment.

@CodyGray Oh yeah I guess I could have just replied vandalism. Lucky I love typing! :)

PR#7133 ("Nick: Watch (?-i:Crypto-BitCoin-Gen)(?#github)") opened by SmokeDetector

I... wouldn't have watched that, @Nick.

Why?

I'm not sure it's spam
It seems to be an attempt to answer?

Not sure what crypto and bitcoin have to do with printing "hello world"?

7:17 AM
Basically... as far as I can tell, the "answer" contains both a Thai version and an English translation, confusingly interspersed. But it seems to be some sort of attempt to answer (but still NAA?)
Except that it's rude with phrases like "including the 9th brother who shot the 8th brother" (which appears in the original Thai, too)
Well... that's the name of their file on GitHub?
Even if it was spam, I don't think that's something we'd expect to recur, since it's just an arbitrarily chosen file name
But, I'm admittedly confused about the whole mess.

Oh yeah, just looked at it and I see what you mean. Please reject that PR...

!!/reject 7133 "Rejected after subsequent discussion and further consideration; unlikely to detect spam."

As long as we get a spamwave involving emoji every so often, the confidence score will stay pretty high. But I don't think the filter was meant to catch those.
Especially on the math-related sites we'll continue to get FP by it.

@Mast the regex is pretty basic: github.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/blob/… and checks for two or more chars in Unicode Symbol,Other. That set has both the mathematical and the emoji in it. (util.unicode.org/UnicodeJsps/…)

@rene Is it possible to test against a subset instead?

The problem is, spammers are equally likely to use mathematical symbols.
Or at least you haven't proven otherwise.

@CodyGray That's because I'm not well-versed in mathematical proofs.
But are they? Are spammers likely to use mathematical symbols in titles?

Maybe you'd be surprised to learn what counts as a mathematical symbol.

It has probably happened, maybe a handful of times, but were those posts we wanted to catch with this reason?
AFAIK, this was mainly implemented to catch telephones, christmas trees, yellow stars and the other crap those quickbooks / coinbase / binance programs threw at us.
Where it was simply not possible to watch for single icons since they switched it up every post.

There's more (about 15) for the "them" version actually, but it's fine for a watch.
Oh, you said "on MS". Never mind.
