@RyanM Agreed (I looked into the same site the other day.) AFAIK BTT is quite a reputable and widely-used utility
@RyanM Hmm. That looks like a news-ish site, but it doesn't seem to be a well-known or reputable site, and their webpage is very sparse
domain registered 2019-04-24 according to whois
User's been destroyed
I don't really see a reason not to call it spam

@Makyen MS is running noticeably slower; and occasionally takes more than four seconds (as opposed to almost instantly, as it was last we chatted). Even if you click the same link a few times in a row, nothing is cached and it still takes ~ 1 1/2 - ~ 2 1/4 seconds (and rarely longer). --- Not really enough to complain about, but you said you wanted to be pinged right away if it was slow; presumably to diagnose the cause.

@RyanM You left a comment here. If your mention about a spam flag is not about that post, then please be specific as to which post the spam flag was on and/or how you know. Without further information from you, it's assumed you're talking about your spam flag on that post. If that's not the case, then please have wording indicating where the information is coming from (e.g. "someone else's flag on some other post", or something more specific).
Comments are on posts. Ideally, they would be written with the expectation that the user is reading the comment in isolation from other information. In other words, it's fine/good to bring in a larger context, but you need to be clear in the comment that that's what you're doing.
@Rob OK. Thanks. I'm not really seeing the response as all that slow at the moment. Perhaps we're looking at different pages, or there was some transitory activity. My impression is that there's been a considerable amount of searching done, and, perhaps, ongoing. If there's a lot of that, it can affect how quickly MS responds.
That doesn't mean that I wouldn't just reboot it, if I had a reboot button. :)

Rob
@Makyen, Approximately: 1 1/2, stopped counting past 10 seconds, 3/4, 1, stopped counting past 10 seconds. --- That's the last few [MS] links, going backwards.

Regarding prior comment: The first 10 second link now loads in 2 seconds, while the second 10 second link did load in just under 10 seconds (so faster than previously, where neither would load at all in that amount of time).

I'm just going to unwatch that. At best it should be a match on their username and be bookended with ^ and $, but I don't think they could spam their site without the domain name, which is already watched (and the history supports this). Full disclosure: I am affiliated with the company that makes the non-spam product whose name this keeps catching.
!!/unwatch distance[\W_]*+matrix[\W_]*+api(?!\.com(?<=distancematrixapi\.com))

@RyanM ...huh? Is there a legit Distance Matrix API and some kind of spam knock-off?

1:34 AM
@NobodyNada Yup. The other one is pretty explicitly positioning itself as an alternative to the Google API by the same name. See metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/248996 and metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/248997 for the spam and developers.google.com/maps/documentation/distance-matrix/… for the Google product.
I have no idea if the spammed one is any good, but the "answers" they posted on SO certainly weren't.
Amusingly, I used to work down the street from the address listed on their website.

@RyanM it's probably complaining about control chars or smth

which is supposed to just be pastebinned ;)

I find it interesting that AskUbuntu prefers pastebins for details while SO bans them. I guess it's mostly secondary to the question here, so it makes sense, just interesting to see the contrast :-)

@DarkCygnus FYI: No Smoking in the Office has been frozen for several days. Given that SD is now unable to post into that room, I've removed the room from SD's rooms configuration. We're happy to have SD report into there, but only a TWP mod or CM can unfreeze that room. The commit removing the room can easily be reverted once the room is unfrozen, unless you don't want reporting to continue there.
It appears the room freezing was just due to an unusually long time between SD reports for TWP (from 2020-10-01 to 2020-10-15.

@tripleee We could. It might be the correct thing to do. I know there's at least one other room that's kept unfrozen by SD reports. We'd have to either track a timer, or track when the last thing we posted into the room, or check the room history periodically to see when the last message was posted.
