I retracted my last (3rd) spam flag on stackoverflow.com/a/64436574/2275490, seeing that they don't really know what they do, but are not really spamming. In case they are spamming, very clever...
please let me know if I should/need to remove my metasmoke feedback?

Removes 22 FP and 1 NAA, catches all previously caught TP (excludes people trying to print numbers from one to nine, or lists of card faces from two to nine):
!!/unwatch (?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)(?:\W*(?:p\W*)*(?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)){8,}(?!(?:[^<]|<(?!/?code>))*+
)

channeling my inner Makyen on that one.
I also tweaked the regex a little bit to reduce unnecessary backtracking (and slightly increase precision, which surprisingly dropped two more FP for reasons I'm not sure of)
Previously 11/40/1, now 11/19/0
it could probably be a little smarter with a variable-length lookbehind, but those are extremely annoying to test due to the fact that a lot of engines (including MS search and regex101) don't support them

Toxic answer detected - Perspective scored 0.8763121

@RyanM It looks fairly good, but it would be much better if it didn't contain a .*. In the significant majority of cases, that . should have a limited, not an unlimited, number of repetitions. Basically, as it is, every time there's a spelled out number in the text, the entire remaining text is going to be searched for that negative look-ahead. It would be much better if A) that .* was limited,
and B) there was a bit more required to be detected prior to it being triggered (e.g. two, or more, numbers in a row) prior to going into the negative look-ahead.
In addition, the original regex probably should have used the possessive {8,}+ instead of the non-possessive {8,}, or some other way to prevent the search for not being in code potentially being run multiple times. That's not as important as the .*, as unlike the .* the negative look-ahead for not being in code only executes if there are already 9 words in a row (i.e. it's much more rare).
!!/watch- drstanlyspelltemple(?:[\W_]*+(?:at[\W_]*+)?gmail(?:[\W_]*+(?:dot[\W_]*+)?com)?)?

2:56 AM
@Makyen Thanks, all good points. Appreciate the review. B) is somewhat harder to deal with without making the whole thing rather more cumbersome, but I did add a word boundary after the first spelled out number to slightly reduce the number of times the lookahead is hit. I also added another possessive quantifier in addition to the one you suggested in A) - the
detection can safely be possessive as well.
!!/unwatch (?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)(?!.*three\W++four\W++five\W++six\W++seven\W++eight\W++nine)(?:\W++(?:p\W++)*(?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)){8,}(?!(?:[^<]|<(?!/?code>))*+
)
!!/watch-force (?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)\b(?!.{0,25}three\W++four\W++five\W++six\W++seven\W++eight\W++nine)(?:\W++(?:p\W++)*+(?:zero|one|two|three|four|five|six|seven|eight|nine|ten)){8,}+(?!(?:[^<]|<(?!/?code>))*+
)

It'd be considerably more efficient with a lookbehind at the end instead of that lookahead, but I'm not really sure how to work with that from a tooling perspective

@RyanM @Machiavity I have reverted your feedback (and also Daniil but not pinging)

It may not be common, after more searching, but it's still definitely a real name that people have
Poking around in the TP results for 1-weight posts found by inaccurate rules is a surprisingly effective means of finding incorrect feedback
@SmokeDetector If that rule is simplified to (?:mother)?f[au]++[ck]{2,}(?:er|ed|ing?)?s? it would drop 868 FP, 24 NAA, and only 3 TP that were not caught by any other rule at the time

ah but we can do better, "fauk" and "fuuk" are both bad, too

@tripleee I don't think so, actual reduction with (?:mother)?(?:f[au]++[ck]{2,}|f[au]+uk)(?:er|ed|ing?)?s? (slight improvement on the initial version based on what I said after, so maybe switch to that) is 1 TP / 128 FP / 2 NAA, which is still very good. The one not caught is metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/236357
Based on analyzing posts only caught by that rule by running the rule against "why" text
which should work here because it's pretty much a subset of the initial rule. Generally that approach wouldn't work terribly well.

@RyanM update pushed

5:11 AM
matches on the entire corpus are 4635 TP / 2452 FP / 426 NAA vs 4537 TP / 2210 FP/ 407 NAA - reduction of 98 TP / 242 FP / 19 NAA, which isn't as impressive, but is counting things caught by other rules
@tripleee thanks, apologies for the confusion

perhaps we should have a tool to make these comparisons easier

that would be extremely useful. I would use that. As I/we change more watches, the why text is going to get further out of sync with reality, and I don't want to accidentally remove all the rules that hit a post via separate removals.
If we do that, it should be deliberate (and there are a couple cases where I think we should because a subset of the rule is extremely inaccurate), but having it happen accidentally would be bad

CI on b56cd67 succeeded.

For rules that hit fewer posts, it's easy enough to hand-check. For rules that hit thousands, it's too much.
Ideally, I'd want to see "These posts were hit before, but aren't now. Of those, these would not be hit by any other current reason. These additional posts would be hit now that weren't before. Of those, these would not be hit by any other current rule/reason."
that's tricky, though, because it entails running the rules against potentially a lot of posts. Might have to be a local tool and not an MS tool.
Workarounds I've tried including using lookarounds to approximate the negation of the changes, but it doesn't work very well, especially if there are multiple matches.
