@SmokeDetector Possible undisclosed affiliation, as a Google search shows a post elsewhere by someone with the same name which also promotes the same site. However, the question this answer is on is asking for resources. I have not investigated the linked site to see if it fits what the question is asking for. Thus, this may, or may not, be considered spam.

@Machavity Based on this history, I'd guess "John" was temporarily in the per-instance (i.e., not on Github) username blacklist as a result of the tpu- feedback on this earlier post by a presumably unrelated user with that username.

@Machavity The username (?i)^john$ is blacklisted on Hinduism, Mi Yodeya, and Islam due to prior trolling / R/A content.

@Makyen Ah

My spam flag on metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/220083 was declined, which is kind of strange.

@EliahKagan I wouldn't spam flag that. In isolation, that's a question. It could be intended to promote, and isn't a good question, but it's not clearly spam. However, if I was a moderator, I'd dispute the flag instead of decline it. If there is context the moderator needs to know which isn't obvious from just the SE post, then a custom flag is a better choice. The moderator flag review interface only provides the flag and a view of the post as it is at the time the flag is being handled.
Note: I haven't actually gone to the page linked in the post to see if the page actually has something related to social media which the post could actually be referencing.

@Makyen Thanks. The declined flag is less strange in in that light, and more reasonable than I had thought. (I do very much think it's spam, but I no longer think the declined flag was accidental.)
@Makyen I didn't (and don't) see anything on it that would reasonably be described that way, but admittedly I'm viewing it in a browser that's fairly locked down and might not show whatever the OP was describing.

@EliahKagan If the linked site doesn't show anything which might be considered what the OP is talking about, then that's good/important information to include in a custom mod-flag. A mod won't necessarily go to links to verify that. [IMO, they should, but they may not.] At a minimum, including that information probably saves the mod some time and makes it more likely they evaluate the post as spam, or at least dispute the flag.
I should also note that I don't see deleted posts on that site, so can't evaluate how/why the question was deleted. Thus, it could still be a mistake in handling the flag. Such things do happen.
OTOH, the question might have been deleted as just bad. Any question that is "I want to do something like [link]" is useless to future visitors as soon as the linked site changes. Thus, IMO, such questions should always be closed.

@Makyen I can't either. I'm only going by the version of the post I saw originally and that is in MS. The post might've been edited since then, before being deleted. It's very, very off-topic for the Physics site where it was posted (which is one the factors that pushed me toward thinking it's spam), so as you suggest it may have been deleted after closure by 20k delete votes or a moderator just on the grounds that it's obviously not going to be improved sufficiently to merit reopening.

6:32 PM
@EliahKagan Yep. It's definitely way off-topic for that site and has no possibility of being improved to be on-topic. It's certainly something which would be reasonable to close and delete, assuming it's not considered spam.
