@Makyen Quick question. Other than the post I just reported, the user has two more answers linking to their own GitHub page where they explain the answer. The answer texts seem useful, though some descriptions are ripped right out of a Wikipedia page, and they were all posted far apart time-wise. Do I even bother reporting these other posts?

@Das_Geek In general, you shouldn't give feedback on posts which you report. It's not as critical as when we were requiring only one feedback per post, but it's still something we try to avoid.

@Das_Geek For undisclosed affiliation on posts that are otherwise good, I usually prefer to leave a comment asking the OP to add disclosure and linking to the various resources about the disclosure requirement (see the comment I left on the post you reported). I'll then usually give the user a couple/few days to respond (how long will largely depending on if the user appears to be active on the site).

Only if they don't add disclosure will I then do any of custom-flag and explain, edit in the disclosure, or report it here. I'll usually only report it here if the post doesn't have value to the site. SD tends to be a fairly blunt stick, which is mostly good for getting posts deleted quickly. It really isn't nuanced enough to be used for posts which have value to the site, even if they are technically TP (i.e. we would want to block them if SD was implemented at the system level).

For undisclosed affiliation, I'll mainly only report to SD if the post(s) don't have value to the site.

Or, if the user is actively adding multiple posts (which usually have, at most, minimal value).

@Makyen Thanks for the clarification. I had commented and set a reminder for myself going off in two days about that post, and was on the fence whether or not to wait to feed it into SD. Since it really wasn't much of an answer I elected to feed just so there's a record of it in the system, then mod-flag or naa-flag it if the user didn't edit.

A large part of the criteria of what to do is: does the person appear to be here to provide good questions/answers, or are they here to promote their thing? While we can only ever guess at that, the user's actions usually are good indications.

In this case, should I have waited to report to SD? On one hand the post didn't deliver much value, but on the other they have other good posts and don't seem to be solely self-promoting

@Das_Geek On that one specifically, I probably would have left comments similar to what are there now, downvoted and flagged as NAA. I probably wouldn't have reported it to SD. That's mostly because I don't feel the post should be red-flagged. Given the other contributions from this user, they don't appear to be here primarily to promote their stuff.
