@double-beep While that looks like it might be a reasonable identifier for that person's spam, this watch looks like it will be prone to FP, as there are a non-trivial number of users just on SO who have that username. At a minimum, this should be added with ignore-case turned off (e.g. (?-i:^Robert\sSmith$)), but that really won't reduce the FP by all that much based on the So username matches.

@ByteCommander I'm not sure. I haven't been around that much today. :-) Thursdays tend to be lower traffic/fewer people. My impression was that there were more reports today than "normal" for a Thursday, but that's just based on how many messages I hadn't read over the last 5 hours, or so.
@double-beep Thanks for the ping. It definitely got me to look at CHQ sooner than I would have without it.

9:31 PM
@Makyen For this specific class of problem (the one we've been having for the last few days) Undo is the only one who can do anything about it. The problem is that the redis instance needs kicking, although I couldn't say why.
I have thoughts about fixes, but I don't know when I'll get time to implement them.

@Kulfy Great! Welcome! Unfortunately, we're having problems with the metasmoke site today, but those should be resolved later. If you want to only do autoflagging, that's certainly helpful. If you'd like to participate a bit more than that (i.e. do something other than, or in addition to, autoflagging), you might want to take a look at the SmokeDetector wiki, which has some good information as to what we do here. Please feel free to ask any questions you have.

@Makyen Just so you know, I have given Kulfy reviewer and flagger privs (which I believe is the standard procedure, correct me if I'm wrong).

@thesecretmaster Yeah, that was my expectation. However, there was that one time not that long ago where I didn't ping you and Art, but you were able to resolve it. :-) So, I've gone back to pinging you two too, just in case. I'm happy to not do so, if you'd prefer.
Hopefully, when Undo gets back from vacation the reboot sequence will be modified to reboot the Redis server too. Alternately, or in addition, the CloudWatch CPU metric could be used to set an AWS alarm that auto-reboots if the CPU doesn't drop below max anywhere in X time.

@Makyen Sorry, I do appreciate being pinged, because at least half of the time me or Art are able to do something about it. I just expect this same problem to keep occurring about once daily ( if it's what I think it is, the frequency depends on the amount of information that's added to MS). So anyways, I just wanted to let you know that for this issue specifically, you don't need to ping all three of us (although I don't mind either way).
@Makyen This is actually a good idea for both redis and maybe the main MS instance as well cc @Undo

@thesecretmaster That's fine. Usually we just give Flagger automatically, Reviewer is usually on a case-by-case basis, but it's fine.

9:42 PM
@Makyen OK, thanks. Sorry, I have a feeling I shouldn't touch those buttons since I'm not actually an admin, but since I was the one pinged I felt obligated to do it.

@thesecretmaster It's really no problem. It's a judgement call.
@thesecretmaster Ok. As long as you don't mind, I'll probably continue to ping you, just in case. The recent time I didn't ping you and you were able to resolve it, I had thought it was something very similar to the current problem, where only Undo would be able to resolve it by kicking the Redis server. My view on the actual cause of each problem is fairly limited. I can really only see the effects on how MS behaves.

Ah ok. For redis problems, sometimes I can do things since I have ssh access to the redis instance, but in this case because it's very dead it needs a hard reboot from the AWS console, which only Undo can do.

@thesecretmaster What you did was reasonable. The judgement call is mostly based on how you feel the person will do reviewing posts on MS. Users with a several thousand reputation points usually do reasonably well. The primary things the Reviewer role does is allow the user to have write access to the MS API for feedback and flagging, and give them access to post reviews on MS and the ability to feedback/flag from MS post pages.
The primary reason not to give Reviewer would be if you feel the MS feedback the user gives should have more scrutiny for a while.

@thesecretmaster Yeah. There's not much that can be done if the instance isn't even allowing ssh access. We'll just have to wait for Undo, and hope that it resolves itself after a while. This daily thing has been appearing to resolve itself after an hour, or a few/couple hours. I'll try rebooting MS again, as resolution of the problem as seemed, sometimes, to be coincident with an MS reboot. I'm unsure if there's a connection, allowing it to sync the instances back up, but it doesn't hurt.

@Makyen That pattern looks like it's already caught by Bad keyword in body and Bad keyword in answer; append -force if you really want to do that.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
