@ArtOfCode and @Undo I assume?

@JeffSchaller nice! You know, that's the first time I've seen that connection made. Now, we will have to make one, just because. :-)

@Catija can't remember if that one was admin or dev. Anyway, I can :)

@ArtOfCode Not an immediate change but we'll be upping ELU to 6 spam or r/a flags for deletion, so once that change happens, you can remove the special casing for their auto flags.

@Makyen pretty sure there is one... can't remember who or where though. @Glorfindel maybe?

@Makyen happy to help! I'm seeing lots of "privileged" command lists; is there anything I can do at the moment to help? I'm expecting some sort of "good job, robot" or "not spam" feedback, but they're listed under "Privileged commands as reply"

@Catija okay, cool. Give us a ping when it happens?

@Makyen oh! I assumed there was a user list that the robot knows about

I'm still using it now and then, it's pretty handy on the go.

@Glorfindel Hmmm. I'll probably need to ask. It came up natively (thanks) on ELU and got some little support... but getting rid of special cases is always useful and Charcoal seems to make it less necessary... that said, TWP may get more R/A posts that wouldn't get caught by smokey... So I think it'll need a bit of discussion.

@ArtOfCode may I suggest adding that link to charcoal-se.org/smokey ? (I don't know who owns what around here, yet)

@Makyen Probably needs updating, actually - it doesn't list you as an admin, for one

@JeffSchaller Aye, that'd be smart
TL;DR: who owns what - admins (me, Undo, angussidney, Andy, tripleee, Makyen) have pretty much full access to just about everything. metasmoke developers (me, Undo, thesecretmaster) have even higher access. Undo runs metasmoke and has most control, but that's usually unnecessary.
thesecretmaster also has admin access by way of having dev access, but isn't an admin in the organisational sense

I just didn't mean to put the responsibility on you, if you didn't own that domain

@JeffSchaller Sure, I appreciate that. That's just a bit of a broader overview.
Quite a bit of charcoal-se.org is generated from GH wikis, which makes it fairly easy to update

At charcoal-se.org/training/privileges#reporting it says "Report posts that would be “red-flaggable” on the site. That is, if it could be spam- or abusive-flagged, you can report it to Smokey." (1) is this a "thing"?, and if so (2) it's curious to me that this is the first inclusion of "(rude or) abusive" as a category. Is MS focused on spam as I'm initially seeing, or more NAA's?
I guess I shouldn't broaden it to NAA's, but the "delete me delete me delete me delete me delete me" example on the spam page ... "isn't spam", so I'm trying to figure out the target
@JeffSchaller by "is this a thing" I'm wondering: do people proactively provide these reports, or should I move on

Anything that's red-flaggable is fair game for Smokey.
Only spam and rude/abusive posts. I'm not sure what you're seeing on MS, but it often picks up false positives.

@JeffSchaller Yes, people proactively provide such reports, which helps significantly for posts which SmokeDetector doesn't catch on its own. Yes, SmokeDetector is intended to catch spam and rude/abusive posts. While we don't focus on NAA, we do see them, as they match some of our detections. For the humans, SD/MS has "NAA" feedback, but for metasmoke's actions in autoflagging it's treated the same as FP (false positive) and the project specifically doesn't issue NAA flags.
@JeffSchaller The overall criteria for feedback is: "If SmokeDetector was implemented as a system-level block, would we want to catch this type of activity?" If it should be blocked at a system level, then it's a TP, if not it's FP (or NAA).

Huh. I just noticed that AU had 3x more autoflags than SO these past three months. (AU, SO).

I'm at the bottom of the learning curve, here, trying to get my feet on the steps :) TP and FP are still new :) I don't expect to be proactively sending reports, particularly on U&L; just trying to figure out what's useful/current/valid.

Does that mean AU was getting 3 times more spam than SO!?

6:42 PM
@terdon SO doesn't see nearly as much pharma spam.

Still. I was expecting SO to be the primary spam target since it's by far the largest.

You have to register to post on SO, no?

Ah, point. I think you do these days, yes.
Also, something's off. SO has _"There have been 1 249 attempts to cast flags automatically on Stack Overflow in the last 3 months."_ and AU _"
There have been 3 877 attempts to cast flags automatically on Ask Ubuntu in the last 3 months."_ but SO shows 51,109 posts caught versus AU's 19,952.
So I guess the number of autoflag attempts doesn't accurately represent the spam volume.

You have a space in between"AU" and the "_".

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Link at end of answer, potentially bad ns for domain in answer, username similar to website in answer (118): CSS Not Working with Wordpress Custom Menus by karbarwp on stackoverflow.com

6:46 PM
SO also gets a heck of a lot more FPs caught.
Oh, right, it's a multiline message. Formatting doesn't work in those.

@JeffSchaller TP is True Positive = the post is something we'd want to block on the system level (e.g. it's spam or rude/abusive, but also vandalism & plagiarism). FP is False Positive = something we shouldn't block on the system level. NAA is a type of FP that is easier for us humans to assign.
Note: While plagiarism is a TP, it's not something that this project is specifically looking for. Thus, it's TP when detected, but not something that should be manually reported to SmokeDetector.
@JeffSchaller A post that is edited into "delete me delete me delete me delete me delete me" would be considered vandalism, which normally gets tp feedback, as it's something we'd want to block at a system level.

@Mithrandir actually, I think that you need to log in to ask on SO, you can answer without registering

(Also, kinda crazy that Charcoal has cast nearly 164,000 autoflags. I wonder what percentage of all red flags in that timespan that is.)

7:37 PM
@SmokeDetector This report is detects the original answer, which is FP (reparable). It's not detecting the rollback which the user later made to the post, which, if it was what was detected, might be considered to be TP. What is added is quite minor, so I'm not really sure we should be blocking it, unlike the user's vandalism of some of their other posts to be R/A. If we're looking at the user's overall activity, then blocking the rollback would be reasonable, but that's not what was detected.
