Hello @charcoalFolks! I want the opinion of the most extreme spam haters on the network. Does anyone feel this post is spammy, or am I doing it right?

A: VEP output SIFT_score unclear

terdonThe first gene you mention, ENSG00000196924, actually has 6 transcripts (link to the VarSome.com page of variant rs371839875), not 5. It's just that one of them is non-coding: So the Sift scores you see are indeed one per transcript, it's just that there are 6 because dbNSFP also includes a sc...

there is a disclaimer, you don't try to promote...

Yes. It should be fine. I would certainly not consider this spam if anyone had flagged it, for example. But since it's my post and I'm a mod there, I wanted to hear from you all since I have been known to be on the lenient side on spam stuff.
So I figure if nobody here thinks it's not OK, then I'm safe :)

@terdon <site root>/help/promotion covers it pretty well. As long as you don't post exclusively to promote it (link-only and/or more "look at this, this is very awesome!" + reason to assume bad faith, rather than "use this like this to fix your problem") and add a disclaimer, you're good. And excessive promotion is also a thing, I haven't checked the rest of your posts but I assume you won't go on a "Look at this perfect thing"-answer spree

the post is locked due to the high number of people think it is spam ;)

@Olivia Oh, I am very well aware of the rules, thanks. I was curious about CHQ's interpretation of the rules since I have not always agreed with you in the past but since this one is my post, I wanted to make sure it meets your stricter standards rather than my own sometimes more lenient ones.

@terdon the main differences are on edge cases AFAIK. But non-spam-ish disclosed self-promotion that generally follows answer rules very rarely end up with tpu. Either way, you're fine ^^

@Olivia You'd think so, but I've had to reject a surprising number of spam flags like that over the years. Some people think any sort of mention is spammy. Hell, I've even had to reject spam flags which were cast just because a post included a link! Not from CHQ folks, mind you, you guys tend to know the rules better.

Most of those still get feedback invalidation though. But if you say so, you're probably right ^^" The only metric I have is feedback, not how much actually gets flagged

On one hand, a low traffic site is more likely to have 2k editors that don't know what they're doing. Having a suggestion pending raises the chance that they just click 'approve' instead of 'improve' to push it through right away.
