5:55 PM
@ThomasWard Something like that might be useful (I'd have search on MS to see what it matches), but that regex itself is quite broad. If you are looking for just subdomains, I'd suggest something that detects just things that look like subdomains. That regex will detect anything that has "recover" followed by a sentence that ends with "email." and has another sentence. Maybe something like recover[a-z0-9-]*email[a-z0-9-]*(?:\.[a-z0-9][a-z0-9-]*)*(?:\.[a-z]+) (needs testing; 2 matches on MS).

^ It reports Gaurav's old answer because the Q&A was bumped by thespacecamel's new VLQ answer which isn't caught as "very short, link at end". @Makyen is there a rule that ought to have fired and did not - it's FP'd and missed a TP? --- afk 1/2 hour, no rush for investigating or answer. Thanks.

@Makyen well the idea was to also catch root domains

uh... FIRE and AIM are borked beyond recognition...

6:09 PM
rather than just a 'subdomain' capture. The idea is that we'd be able to detect both Subdomains like that you blacklisted and domains themselves matching the pattern. But was more a fifteen-seconds-to-hash-together than anything else :p

@EriktheOutgolfer How so? They are working for me. Have you tried reloading the page?

@Makyen well, the issue is more with FIRE, AIM just shows the reason weight an extra time at the bottom-left of the message in the same font as the message text... wait a sec to check if there are Chrome updates
and yes, I've tried reloading
no Chrome updates
I'll post a screenshot
@Makyen ^

looks like CSS failed to load... Ctrl-Shift-R, try again

no it was another userscript

@EriktheOutgolfer Which one?

6:15 PM
very sneaky
@Makyen you may not know it, it's code golf stuff
it's just that some userscripts should really exclude chat
basically, over PPCG we have a sandbox, and the userscript is a viewer for that sandbox... somehow, it conflicted with something else here

@EriktheOutgolfer Yes, they should. There are a variety of subdomains which should be excluded from most SE userscripts. If it's only for viewing your sandbox, then it should only load on that specific page.

Standard list of exceptions:
// @exclude     *://chat.stackexchange.com/*
// @exclude     *://chat.meta.stackexchange.com/*
// @exclude     *://chat.stackoverflow.com/*
// @exclude     *://blog.stackoverflow.com/*
// @exclude     *://*.area51.stackexchange.com/*
// @exclude     *://winterbash*.stackexchange.com/*

@Makyen actually, I think it's designed to work for other SE sites as well, but... it doesn't, currently
the reason why, well, don't ask me

@EriktheOutgolfer Sounds like it should be limited to the specific page, until such time that it's updated to work elsewhere.

@Makyen well, that would really make sense too!

@ThomasWard Yeah, I spent a bit more, but we can always (well, OK, usually) get to a regex that does what's desired. I assume that you also desire to catch the .email TLD.

@Makyen ahhh, that's where it gets tricky
since SE and myself use .email for an email-only domain

are we having a constant failover problem i'm not aware of? o.O

@ArtOfCode @Undo I'm interested in running an SD instance. I've spun up an EC2 instance and run through what's in this setup info. I'm at the point of editing the "config" file, but I need information as to the appropriate entries in that file for a normal SD instance. I'm assuming that should be communicated on keybase.
@ThomasWard It's looking like it.
