AS I have met people hanging out on black hat sites, I think I have met some out of those dark corners, if not the darkest corners of which I hear in the news only.
(Black hat sites is where spammers share information on where to go and how to infiltrate in those sites.)
I do not know, I got the impression the one my friend went was based somewhere in India or that region. That leaves open a lot of languages, including English.
@ArtOfCode Did you hear anything from triplee lately? I've been meaning to ask something about domain tagging but he's been inactive for 17d on chat. Is he on vacation? Who is responsible for the domain tagging stuff in his stead?
I just asked one of our group where the black hats were based and he said Vietnam, it is a kind of cottage industry there to spam.
He said the Vietnam spammers got paid to post anything, posting spam in English and chatting in Vietnamese on the same site, while Indian spammers were more likely to post spam related to something in India.
Many of the 'English' spam posted was such poor English that is was obvious that the person preparing the post did not understand English at all.
And in that chat we had with the one guy we also got the impression one of the group would have some (very small) knowledge of English and the others not even enough to be familiar with the alphabeth.
Meh. For a post written like that, I'd give a user 24 hours at minimum to correct it. We might end up losing a valuable user if we deal with this too harshly.
They might have sent a mod message in addition, who knows?
We have spammers on the site.
Normally, you vote them down + flag: spam.
However, if the spammer also self-answers their own post with an answer (that is also spam btw), what do we do to the answer?
Also vote down + flag:spam? or also delete vote the answer?
