but keep in mind you can actually send off any reason name to MS and it'll make a new reason

@quartata that's what I wanted to confirm before I replied.
@quartata spot-check my latest reply on GH?

yeah that looks right
you're just editing the why passed to handle_spam
@iBug actually does the same thing for the "this would have also been caught by <...>"

@Undo At your convenience, I will need you to delete MS entry records for metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/113797 and metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/113798 as these were 'test' records. And the corresponding "Custom" manual report reason if you wish, too.

I answered how we check if things are spam. The user account etc. anyone care to put forward our policies?
18
Q: Is anything spam anymore?

Paul CrovellaI recently flagged this answer as spam It's an ad for iPistis and (since that's not enough) doesn't disclose the author's obvious affiliation: This flag was declined stating: a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it Is evidence looked for? If this isn't spam...

@YvetteColomb spam with regards to autoflagging, or spam in general as to how we, Charcoal/SmokeDetector, detect spam?
because the full policies for how we detect is a lengthy list of reasons
and the autoflagging stuff is already documented semi-publicly IIRC
(brb, ordering food and then walking to pick it up)

@ThomasWard You're sharing.... Right?

@YvetteColomb I upvoted your answer, I really don't know why people are downvoting it
it's a 4 year old answer and was almost certainly in good faith, people need to deal. (although I personally would have disputed the flag instead)

@ThomasWard not auto flagging

12:14 AM
@quartata That's probably where it's coming from.
I would probably dispute myself. But I don't want to get involved in that post xD

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs extends @K.Dᴀᴠɪs' sentence of punishment via being forced to work in the salt mines underneath Charcoal HQ from 10 years to 20 years

well the distinction between declined vs disputed is always going to be something from personal preference

oh no :(
I just wanted food

@quartata People are downvoting it because they believe that spam is spam, and isn't based on the user's contributions.

It's worth realizing that this answer was posted to a very bad question that invited spam like that back in 2014. Punishing a user for a 4-year-old post on a crappy question is almost entirely pointless. Just delete the question and call it good. — animuson ♦ 1 hour ago
now complaining that your bad flag wasn't disputed is essentially complaining that you lost the lottery

12:16 AM
@K.Dᴀᴠɪs I haven't eaten anything since the tiny pepperoni sandwich i scarfed down this morning for breakfast, so I'm really starving. NO FOOD FOR YOU!

I'll remember that

@ThomasWard awh man dude same here

forgot to pack a lunch

pepperoni and mustard

Now I want to order a pizza

12:16 AM
that's what i had

creepy

Stop eating what I eat!

just because you said pepperoni

I better go get something myself

@quartata yes - declining flags is one way of telling flaggers they're not flagging well. It discourages them from doing so.

12:19 AM
@YvetteColomb it also triggers the autowarn system for flags if they get enough, and then a 'banned from flagging' too if they get even more declines beyond the warning, IIRC
but that's an automatic system

right, and every moderator has a different way of handling these "gray area" flags where action was needed but not that kind of flag
for red flags I'm totally cool with declined over disputed since red flags should be used more carefully

@ThomasWard yes - that's the point of declining them

The major red flag (no pun intended) is the fact the answer lasted for almost 4 years.

in general I never expect flags to be disputed. i am genuinely surprised when they are

Spam doesn't last that long

12:20 AM
@quartata I mark plenty as disputed, but sometimes it is just - c'mon!

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs yeah, that alone makes it worth a custom flag
even if it was more blatant

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs lol

So if you see a 4 year old post, then it's likely NOT spam

FWIW i'm not doing this to rag on the user, i'm talking about the situation generally because i'm sure it's happened before. this is just the first time someone has complained on meta
but I do think they're taking advantage of the fact that it was a new mod
which is unfair, imo. a freaking CM agreed with your actions.

@K.Dᴀᴠɪs yes and the question needs to be taken into context.
@quartata meh - it's to be expected

12:23 AM
all right that's my dose of meta for the day
back to the tensorflow grind
since apparently Triage is empty o_0

lol triage... The most pointless queue out there.
Nothing is handled correctly in triage... Don't get me started on that

i try my best :(
in SOBotics on Stack Overflow Chat, Apr 3 at 1:19, by quartata
I think in general the reason why Triage is bad with CVs aside from the low rep is that the "Requires Editing" is easier (one button vs many) and so dilutes the vote

got me good

12:32 AM

Is it really necessary that you spam the joke commands?

I'm trying to see what the command does. Do note this has been about 10 minutes.
