Q: What is the impact of flag declined? Is it possible to ask moderator for clarification?

user463035818I am still a bit confused about the workings of flagging stuff and moderators accepting/declining them. I flagged this question as "In need of moderator intervention" and added a comment to the flag saying "contains spam". It wasnt a big deal, but I just want to take it as an example trying to ...

tpu- by DavidPostill

...wait, why is that tpu-?

@NobodyNada Because "shit" is a rude word?

@DavidPostill Sure it is, but that doesn't make the post red-flaggable

Well I flagged it as rude

I'd go with NAA; just looks like he's swearing out of frustration

6:29 PM
shrug

Not that swear words belong, but IMO R/A is only for cases where the post contains nothing but rude or abusive content

@NobodyNada flagging as r/a in Fire doesn't actually flag the post itself ...

@NobodyNada While you're in there, those other two answers are NAA too

Ugh, that's our troll again

Those are spam, see the outbreak on AU not far above

I think this guy is watching Charcoal
As that Sharepoint post was reported by Smokey, he posted spam on it

Potentially - we added turkey, it changed to turkish
We added turkish, now there's no reference to that
And username changed too

@CalvT븃 I blacklisted his usernames, and he immediately changed them
I'm thinking about adding a "troll" mode for FireAlarm, for cases like this and Dr. Madonna, that allows us to blacklist whatever we want during the short-term without fear or complexity
It'll be activated with something like @FireAlarm troll <site> in a dedicated room, and will allow us to blacklist everything we want, for an hour or so

@ThomasWard I'm going to failover to Solar Flare, if that's fine with you
Smokey uses up all of FireAlarm's quota, if I run it for too long

@NobodyNada yeah that's totally fine. Lunar Eclipse and Supernova are decent alternatives, though probably slightly less 'fast'
Solar's routing has been fixed so :P

What happened?

7:13 PM
@quartata A few things happened, what are you referring to?

Just everything

We had a crazy spammer who might have been watching chat, and Thomas was doing some maintenance on Solar Flare

@NobodyNada it was getting overloaded, too, with the volume of crap coming in
it was literally lagging and eating swap which is atypical

Whoa

so separate from the chaotic evil of routing tables hell
it was really needing kicked

tpu by Zanna

?
Oh, tpu- and tpu aren't the same, so it posted again

@ThomasWard that.... doesn't sound right
run !!/threads if it happens again
might be a leak with bodyfetcher

@quartata potentially, but the routing tables on the host were fubar beyond sanity as well, so it needed punted
rebooting the system itself fixed the routing hell, so that on its own was its own headache. combined with the issues of memory consumption and process usage, I kicked the thing into a reboot, which resolved everything it seems.

@SmokeDetector F
@NobodyNada it always posts MS feedback

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ But only once for each type of feedback

'cause yeah, no minus

What's the difference between reviewing from "review" and from "FIRE"?

@gparyani review is an MS page
The end result isn't different

Reviews from chat also show up as "from review"

7:30 PM
You're just being faster with FIRE
@gparyani yep

So how do people review from "FIRE"?

Well no
If you review from review, you only are sending feedback to MS. If you review from FIRE, you're flagging it as well
@gparyani can you access our channel? Here's a post on FIRE stackoverflow.com/c/charcoal/q/11/14
Ok I'll submit a PR

great, I have no time to do it right now

Pull Approve is really slow today

@CalvT븃 Declined due to reasons I'm not at liberty to discuss.

7:39 PM
Ok

@ThomasWard If you can discuss it, is there evidence he's watching CHQ? I have a strong suspicion he is, because of how his posts would change as soon as we blacklisted something.

@NobodyNada that's a @Shog9 question. Probably in the "Not at liberty to discuss" category too though.

you should probably just assume that it's a possibility
and also not waste too much time on it
this guy has been around before
he's just bored
so... Don't be too interesting.

I had to write that... otherwise it get's used against us as some point

hehe 'their loss'

Except dog torment
That's just cruel

@Magisch @M.A.R. definitely more fun to annoy the mods than to do it yourself :D

@Makyen helped me with a userscript today that cut down the time to flag by around 70% for me by smoothing out the workflow
