It's very interesting that Smokey catches vandalism occasionally.
I set a different sound for SO so I know whether a report is on SO or anywhere else as soon as the noti pops up

it scans edited posts just like new posts, and vandalism usually introduces few repeated characters or swearing, so that's no surprise

some rare cases where Smokey would fail.
vandalizers are as dumb as spammers

@tripleee That changes greatly depending on how you define vandalism.

they're joke commands after all
ruby maybe ambiguous, but ruby on rails is very unlikely

Belisarius in SOBotics is meant to catch vandalism; that includes removing code, editing in "solved", etc, which wouldn't fall under Smokey's purview.

@Mithrandir @Henders Principle there would be "same as what we do now, but safer". It's just playing with the order of flags... But it's also not something we need for accuracy numbers.
5 auto plus one manual , or 3 auto plus one manual plus 2 auto. Same result, less 'risk' of allowing someone who doesn't know what they're doing to delete a post. Think of it as casting flags after a tp. Again, accuracy numbers say we don't need this.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Offensive answer detected: Python program into a standard assembly? by ergergerger on stackoverflow.com
tpu- by iBug

@Undo That's essentially allowing one person to cast 3 flags with three accounts, though.

JAD
@Mithrandir how is it different to having 5 autoflags and one manual?
it's still one person that gets to nuke the post

The difference is that with them first, it's not one person deciding to cast 3 flags; the flags are cast and then one person decides what to do with their flag.
That way, the autoflags are cast exclusively by the system - there's no one person deciding to cast multiple flags.
Once you start allowing users to, in effect, flag with multiple accounts, that starts to lead into dangerous territory.

JAD
I fail to see the difference, but maybe I am too preoccupied for this discussion, nevermind.

@JAD If it only flags once someone has decided that it's spam, then it's essentially that person deciding to cast all those flags.

JAD
@Mithrandir which seems better to me than just casting those 5 flags right away?
one has a human checking whether it is correct or now, the other does not

From an accuracy standpoint, yes. From a sockpuppet standpoint, no.

@thesecretmaster have you ever worked with eventmachine before?

Yeah, not worth discussing further since we don't need it.
