@rene just gave you RO access to this room. If you go to the info page and click edit, what comes up?

Can I report both stackoverflow.com/questions/42268688/… and stackoverflow.com/questions/42242603/… ? Check asker, answerer, and links in questions.
Already raised a mod flag, wondering if it's worth taking action here

@ArtOfCode this sorry ...

@Kyll questions appear to have no links

@ArtOfCode Sure, but check answers

4:02 PM
@rene hit the edit button, what happens then?

Each asker also answered the other's question with the same links
That's confirmed spam, I wonder if it's worth reporting it to Smokey or just wait out for the flag

the questions themselves aren't spam, but the answers are definitely reportable ^

@ArtOfCode updated my initial screenhot

@ArtOfCode The questions are spam seeds
Obvious ones at that

4:04 PM
@Kyll agree

@Kyll close 'em

@Kyll heh, IMO we should just delete the q's though, and maybe just tell a mod to nuke the accounts

@ArtOfCode Are the MS changes tested?

@ArtOfCode Meh, k. The mod flag should be enough to take care of the questions and the accounts

@Undo nope, straight from GH web :)

4:04 PM
hrmph

I can switch systems and check if necessary

nah, I'll pull locally

kk

Probably won't test the API, just /graphs

@Undo Do you have any objections to the meta post going ahead as planned when the graph is up?

4:06 PM
yeah, API is minor
if it breaks we can just roll that commit back

@Magisch yes
Mainly that it should wait until at least Monday

Why's that?

For one, it's when I get back from road-tripping and can actually help answer questions.

^ Anyone to blacklist this website? I can't remember if I have to escape the subdomain or not

@Undo Monday is Trump's Day President's Day in the US.

@Glorfindel point

@Kyll it's a regex, so escape regex special chars

@AshishAhuja You don't have code privileges, but I've created a pull request for you.

4:08 PM
@ArtOfCode Right, thanks

Also, I need to get metasmoke polished up for this. A cleaner login process and one-click flag enabling would be pretty nice to have.

@SmokeDetector ? Were code privs changed recently?

@Magisch Blacklisted aliyun\.com

@Magisch That one smells like a legit hosting provider

4:09 PM
@Undo scroll up a bit

that's a very bad idea

damn

I'll make a PR to get rid of mine

so @ArtOfCode On monday then?

4:12 PM
if Monday's a holiday, maybe Tuesday would be better. Meh.

urgh, forgot about the auto report
Better f this, no?

shrug holidays probably don't matter too much, and the rest of the world doesn't care anyway

yeah, but the US is awful big
also CM coverage

There are non-US CM's too ya know
jmac, Tim, pretty sure there's one in the UK

That intended?

4:14 PM
I'd be happier with posting it sooner. Day of the week really doesn't matter. If it's interesting/controversial, it'll stay toward the top of Meta

@Undo um

yeah, figured. Lemme try something.

@Undo yeah, except I don't get why the green line is sometimes above the others.

not sure what happened there, possibly that we don't have any 3-flagged autoflagged posts in those other hours?

i actually agree with andy
we have plenty of people to cover questions
and metasmoke is pretty nice as is already

4:16 PM
@Glorfindel bad averages, probably - the other two have multiple months of data to average, the 3-flag only has 2 days

@ArtOfCode local, so incomplete data
But I'm going to try another way

@Undo ah, so should work on prod

@Undo I doubt a couple dozen meta heads will crash MS

@Undo can we do a load test on MS somehow?

@AshishAhuja done, I was waiting on CI and forgot about it

We only get one shot at this, and I don't have time to be sys-admining this week anyway

@ArtOfCode ok, I also think you need to change my ids after my account merge as MS is not recognizing my code privs

I mean @Undo ultimately its your call, so you get to decide, but I dont see why not

now off to bed. bye!

4:20 PM
@AshishAhuja ah, that would be it. @Undo will need to console that

But I think even if MS went down that wouldn't be too bad for us

such a hard decision
I have a new beast of a server that we are going to be using for production testing ... basicly spinning up 1000x + VMs to stress test our management software
and I have to pick a name
so far all the other servers are named after Gods or Titans
Asteria - Titaness of nocturnal oracles and falling stars.
Perses - Titan of destruction.
Atlas - Titan forced to carry the heavens upon his shoulders by Zeus.

Pleiades?

The Pleiades (??e??de?), goddesses of the constellation Pleiades and were associated with rain
?

You could argue you're conducting a hailstorm

lol, true enough
... making it rain

I feel like you need a plural name for a stress test

How do I tell the flag weight contribution of any given reason?

@DavidPostill That name remembers me of both Van Helsing and Cthulhu.

Shoggoth could be a good project name

@JanDvorak gotta be somewhere on MS's reasons. If it's not, you can look for posts with each reason alone and look at their weight

8:52 PM
@JanDvorak round its accuracy percentage to an integer

so a reason whose 50% matches were true positives contributes 50 points towards autoflagging?
That's not great

@ArtOfCode Ahh
@JanDvorak Why? A minimum required 175 weight is reasonably high no matter what
That would mean a post with filter needs at least two other reasons to be autoflagged

@JanDvorak indeed

such as link at the end of body (50%), misleading link [actually bugged, but still correlates with spam] (50%), url in body(50%), all words in title capitalized (25%) would cause an autoflag?

yep

9:01 PM
@JanDvorak Yep

I don't think that's good... none of the reasons had >50% accuracy

@JanDvorak Why not? How many fps have there been?

Hmm, maybe require at least one filter with 60 percent accuracy?

@DavidPostill that is certainly a good point.
@M.A.R. more like 90

@DavidPostill The problem is it's not that far-fetched. People are always more stupid than you think
@JanDvorak Nah, that's a bit too much

9:04 PM
@M.A.R. So? If it is not generating fps then I don't see a problem.

I don't think anybody minds if I don't opt-in to autoflagging yet?

The thing is: if one reason has a low accuracy, the overall accuracy is low. But if a bunch of reasons with not-so-good accuracy combine, theres definitely something wrong with the post.

@DavidPostill I know, but we'll be avoiding that one fp in the future

@JanDvorak nobody's forcing you to

@angussidney True. But still...
@angussidney I mean, I don't think there's shortage of flag quota?

9:06 PM
@JanDvorak Nah, I'm actually thinking of ways to make people to opt out so I get more autoflags. :P
But dang, it's a system really close to perfect

Enjoy your free flags :-)

@JanDvorak every site on SE would have to get at least 50 spam posts a day before we run out of quota

Did we have an SE for hamburgers?
@angussidney Are you up late, or early?

@JanDvorak You're thinking about it from the wrong end. You're thinking of the individual accuracies, which yeah, aren't great. But combine them, and the system accuracy is 99.98%. It's hard to argue with that.

Great accuracy indeed
