Hm, I wonder if I can screw with their data by filling that form in somehow...

@JanDvorak hm, okay, feedback reverted
argh, looks like I can't any more
@SmokeDetector that's a fishy one to say the least

@tripleee nope, because I got there first
@SmokeDetector pinged an email to these people to tell 'em to not do that

yah, i went to the site ... looks legit ... is it bad?

it's not spam or rude/abusive, so in that sense, a false positive
@SmokeDetector f

yah, but it just got voted into oblivion cause SD posted it

@SmokeDetector n

@CaffeineAddiction It was a bad answer.
Just not spam

I was reviewing the URLs in recent spam and the majority of them are already blacklisted
privateinternetaccess.com has two spam hits currently -- one recent, and one from 9 months ago
torrentsvpn.com has three spam incidents already
as per the discussion earlier today, should we blacklist those?
actually, I would cut privateinternetaccess some slack, the posts are stupid but possibly submitted in good faith
(my copy of the blacklist might not be completely up to date, btw)

folks, I am trying to figure if job offers (paid or free) in posts qualify for spam flags, can you help? Per my reading of MSE FAQ strict meaning is post should promote some product or service, otherwise it can't qualify for spam, do I understand that correctly? and if yes, I can't figure whether it would be correct to say that job offer some "product" or "service", somehow it doesn't feel right though I am not sure...
If it helps specific text that made me wonder was "looking for a mentor to help me solve my basic coding problem within web development. Please let me know if you would be happy to help me"

is someone being payed to post it?

@gnat That's just off-topic. Do you have an example of such a post?

@CaffeineAddiction per my reading no one is being paid for posting it, author seems to be pretty clear about this being for their personal needs

How are we going to detect those puppies?

@DavidPostill it's a deleted question at SoftEngg (ex Programmers). Title is "Mentor wanted in <city name> to improve programming skills" Text is "l am looking for a mentor to help me solve my basic coding problem within web development. Please let me know if you would be happy to help me."

@gnat I wouldn't classify that as spam. There is no link to any payload. It is just an off-topic question.

@tripleee git pull, then, or use !!/test

@DavidPostill per my reading of Wikipedia article (which is in turn used as a base of our MSE FAQ) absence of monetary aspects in the message still allows to qualify some posts as spam. That article has section on Noncommercial forms. But okay, even if it was paid job, even if author offered money for their wanted mentoring, could this qualify, I just can't see "product" or "service" promotion in such posts, or do I miss something?

5:09 PM
@gnat I don't see product or service either (that's the payload I referred to). That's why I said "It is just an off-topic question.". Note - I am personally very anti-spam. If I think it's spam I will say so, even if some people don't always agree with me :)
I once got a Sales Director fired for his company spamming after I complained to his boss (Managing Director) pointing out what damage was being caused to the reputation of his company :)

@CaffeineAddiction that was also a joke, not an insult to your joke-making skills :)

though it would make more sense for your first joke to be about UDP, given the lack of guaranteed delivery

I know a joke about TCP, but I can only tell it to one person at a time, and I have to ask for a permission to talk first.
