@Gothdo Apple mods interpret those flags differently from that FAQ post (which is just an opinion of some community members anyway). Just pick NAA option on that site unless the post has real obscene expressions.

why is it always the ask different mods

zaq
Because they are different. :)
So, "flag different".

12:17 AM
@zaq I thought that the FAQ is something official.

@SmokeDetector that is a serious, serious wall of text

Amazingly, it seems like he actually wrote it

@undo I read about half, that post is at least an attempted answer
Not sure if its lifted from somewhere though
Hello @LightnessRacesinOrbit

as if by Magisch, a wild Lightness appears

@LightnessRacesinOrbit even worse than being on SO, I'm writing hacking at javascript
@undo yeah. that's the weird part about WoTs, most of the time they are actually original

@zaq I know this one got resolved, but we can't let a single site on the network ignore network-side guidance policies.
@enderland Unless they're in a tag wiki. Then they're copied, because tag wikis are always copied.

1:22 AM
@undo I think I've read about 3 tag wikis, ever

I wouldn't be heartbroken if they just happened to get accidentally removed sometime.

I can't handle JS omg
one of my first things I want to know, do they have a sleep func? NOPE
bunch of hacky loops burning up CPU time. wat

@enderland There is, you just have to do some hacky stuff with functions and such
Forget what it's called.
setTimeout()

do you actually know js @undo? I feel like I've never written programs ever doing this

225
A: JavaScript sleep/wait before continuing

BeNdErRJS does not have a sleep function, it has setTimeout() or setInterval() functions. If you can move the code that you need to run after the pause into the setTimeout() callback, you can do something like this: //code before the pause setTimeout(function(){ //do what you need here }, 2000); ...

@enderland To some extent. Stuff I write isn't pretty, but there are happier ways than burning CPU time in loops ;)

1:25 AM
I'm trying to make my alert last long enough to read. this is surprisingly not straightforward

wut
For some reason I thought alert() was blocking
I assume this is a closed-source project?

no, I'm screwing with my first ever chrome extension attempt :P

@enderland I know JS pretty well, you can ask me if you don't understand something.

@enderland alert('foo') is blocking, or should be.
It is in my console.

For debugging it's better to use console.log() instead of alert().

1:29 AM
it appears calling the alert within another function does not block, perhaps it's calling it and then the calling func exits?
function searchText(){
  var search = document.getElementById('searchText').value;

  if(search){
    chrome.tabs.query({active:true,currentWindow:true},function(tabs){
      chrome.tabs.executeScript(tabs[0].id,{file:search.js});
      chrome.tabs.sendMessage(tabs[0].id,{method:'search',searchText:search});
    });

    alert('trying to find message=');

  }

   var markup = document.documentElement.innerHTML;

}
that's exiting instantly when searchText() is called
man. I should learn JS. this makes me feel like a 4 year old trying to code

Does it work if you take the chrome.tabs stuff out?

Shouldn't search.js be wrapped in apostrophes or quotes (i.e. be a string)?

My gut says that Chrome is killing your tab or something because of it

It's a good practice to use const instead of var if you don't intend to reassign that variable later.

hm. now I can't see console.log() so I must be really borked

1:34 AM
Did you opened the console...?

yeah
all I'm seeing are errors, though, am investigating

Metasmoke seems to be down, @undo.

I know
Cap really doesn't like Maria

Oh. Fun. :P

yeah, deployment stuff is always fun :P

1:41 AM
@Gothdo this is the problem I am facing apparently, doh stackoverflow.com/a/5648008/1048539

huh?

my log messages are going to a different console

Only had to do that once, and that was when I was working on a crazy project that shouldn't ever have been an extension.

Although that's only of spam that is manually reported -- there's of course spam that is missed.

@hichris123 hence 'all identified spam'

Well, there are other people that flag spam -- so I wouldn't really say of 'identified' spam. More like of spam that Smokey was notified of. :)

@angussidney Meh. The goal isn't to create a dictionary of phrases used in past spam posts, it's to detect future ones. "I'm looking for collaborators, for investors, for sponsors, for programmers, for designers..." it can be a lot of things. Sporadic spam is sporadic.

we had a beautiful cockatiel, he loved us, but the cat swiped him, he was injured, but very fortunate and we rehomed him. I really love birds. I have bird baths. google.com.au/…
when we were kids mum would hang the bird cages from the ceilings so the cats couldn't reach them (we always had birds, cats, dogs and fish)

That's cute ( that he loved you)

they do. when we lived on a property we had dogs, cats, horses and birds (we had cats kittens and puppies for the welfare league.
One of our cockatiels got a hair around her foot and it caused an injury the other birds starting pecking her (they do that to injured birds) on the head, she was bleeding. I pulled her out of that cage and nursed her and kept her in a separate cage. She loved me after that. It was like she knew I saved her and never forgot it
some birds are very personable and do love their humans
