@hichris123 Indeed, a quick look at metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/reason/90 shows that posts in Russian are misplaced questions, while other ones are mostly spam.

Yeah, that's actually what I was looking at. Probably the same for the other non-latin types.

@SmokeDetector k

@SmokeDetector Grace period edited looks like.
And since they're unregistered, they can't delete their own post.
Hmm, or not. It would've had to be edited prior to the comment.

@hichris123 Shadow edits don't work after a comment has been posted though.
The comment might just be one of those "trolling the troll" comments that everyone is tempted to leave sometimes.

12:11 AM
Yeah, who knows...
Guess it was just trolling.

@QPaysTaxes Sure, but you're going to get a lot of nonsensical stuff from Smokey
You won't get much volume then, but that's okay
Yeah, it's fine by me. Not like the data isn't public anyway

People in a few rooms have run Markov chains off transcripts
often turning into vulgar little bots ;-)

Morning

@QPaysTaxes Technically, each of the bots in this room already do that. Smokey is looking for certain commands and could but doesn't record all of the messages. Zephyr looks for certain patterns and if they match reposts them in another room.
I'd question that validity of markov chaining sentences and reposting though. Is that your end goal or are you going for something more?

And this just struck my mind after Q's question. Is it okay to run any bot over here anytime, or do you have to ask permission like in SOCVR?

@QPaysTaxes if you are interested in Markov chains, take a look at subreddit simulator too.
@AshishAhujaツ if the bot is annoying, there are a lot of blue names in here that are going to whack it, and you. Fair warning.

2:25 AM
@Andy I see. I think the best will be to ask permission from an RO then. Anyways, my bot is a huge way from the cross-site platform.
@QPaysTaxes which language are you planning to build your bot in?

@John It's QPaysTaxes's fault.

Which site is this chat room on? (I'm new here)

this is non-site specific room, it's just connected to SE in general
which means all of the site mods are mods on this room
@QPaysTaxes there's new mods, like me and some of the more recent betas

@Quill Well, all mods are mods everywhere in chat. :)

Your calling Art and Undo an old fart???!!!

@hichris123 except MSE

Well, I meant everywhere on chat.SE...

@QPaysTaxes I was going to try for the title "Nicest mod on SE" but then I thought it wouldn't be nice to the others to claim I'm the nicest

@QPaysTaxes Doorknob was nominated for protem at like 13 <_<

I'm pretty sure he's still the youngest

@QPaysTaxes I sure hope not

@Undo IIRC SO even has a thing saying "we don't discriminate age" on their hiring forms
the only age thing would be 13 to signup, but that's a legally enforced thing though

@Quill Yeah, that's standard legal stuff.
Age is a protected class; you're not supposed to be able to say "I'm not gonna hire you because you're 47 and we don't hire 47-year-olds" kinda like you can't say "I'm not gonna hire you because you're purple"
It doesn't mean "we'll hire a fourteen year old" because (1) there's reason to believe a 14-year-old won't be the best worker, and (2) there are weiiiird legal things that happen when you try to enter a contract with a minor.
One of them being that it never works out well for the non-minor

2:57 AM
as far as employment goes down under, you just gotta get parental consent

Where's here?

Australia, that novelty clone of a western country but with nicer beaches
I got a nice programming job at 14, which was cool

Oh, I've done some consulting work. That's fine in the US

Interestingly, we have nearly the same stack as SO.... I even pushed for SE.Redis :p

Where it gets hairy is with "sign this thing, then show up every day" because it's kinda hard to go after a minor for not showing up every day
@Quill Cool
yeesh, with @Quill being blue I'm having an even harder time distinguishing this room and TL.
Teacher's Lounge. Network mod room

3:09 AM
TL reminds me of when I worked IT support during high school; the teachers started speaking to me like an equal

Lemme go bookmark that for April 1
I am IT at my school. Yay homeschooling.

It should be ML (mod lounge) not TL

@John History and all that

@John but that's confusable with Machine Learning
@QPaysTaxes one of the first steps in new betas is for "coming up with a chatroom name"

This is disguised spam. It has an irrelevant promotional link which [has been used](metasmoke search link) to spam SE before.
