@hichris123 Did you ever figure out how to do a discrete derivative?

@Undo nope. :P

aww :(

2:03 AM
@Undo I can get data for every hour. But I need to figure out how to calculate deltas.
SELECT *
FROM reviewstats
GROUP BY TIMESTAMP(DATE(Time), EXTRACT(HOUR FROM Time)), QueueId

Almost seems like you could use a cursor. Ugly and probably slow, but it might work.

^^ Gives me the first piece of data for each hour

Or ask bluefeet, that always seems to work well.

2:15 AM
@Undo Hmm, that actually sounds like a good idea. But I don't want to bother her with it if I can figure it out on my own. :/

Seems fairly simple, but my feeble mind can't figure out how

also, brute forcing tournament pairings with weird requirements. What could possibly go wrong?
(I'm starting to think that maybe there's a reason people don't brute-force these things)

@SmokeDetector n for sure. k depending on your civility level.

@Undo Yes, but I have a GROUP BY so it calculates the delta between two unrelated numbers (i.e. the LQP queue and Suggested Edits).

Hm, this changes my opinion...

there are a lot of ways to arrange 14 teams in 7 games/round for 8 rounds >.>
This might be harder to force than I imagined

@SmokeDetector k Second post, same spam.

@Undo Do the rounds have to be different in some way?
Otherwise, it looks like the number of possible rounds raised to the power of 8.

@Marshmallow Yes, teams can't play eachother twice
And some teams have already played eachother, so I don't want those.
I think I know how to filter those out

Also, must have same number of home versus away games?

3:04 AM
not applicable
Don't put much time into figuring it out, there are a bunch of other weird constraints on it
A little bit of parallelizing should manage that.
I can't math tonight
possible rounds is 91
91^8 is 4.7E15, not manageable
Seems like there really should be a way to do this
(1..14).to_a.combination(2).count
== 91

That's one game, not a round of 7. A round of 7 is a perfect matching on 14 vertices.
> The number of perfect matchings in a complete graph Kn (with n even) is given by the double factorial (n − 1)!!.
In mathematics, the product of all the integers from 1 up to some non-negative integer n that have the same parity as n is called the double factorial or semifactorial of n and is denoted by n!!. That is, where A consequence of this definition is that (as an empty product) For example, 9!! = 1 × 3 × 5 × 7 × 9 = 945. For even n the double factorial is For odd n it is The sequence of double factorials for even n = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, ... starts as 1, 2, 8, 48, 384, 3840, 46080, 645120, .... (sequence A000165 in OEIS) The sequence of double factorials for odd n = 1, 3, 5, 7, ... starts as 1, 3, 15...
14!! is 1428329123020800. This is the number of possible rounds.

ow
yeah, not gonna happen
@Marshmallow This is actually interesting stuff

@Marshmallow Aren't there just 91 ways for 14 teams to play 7 simultaneous (1 on 1) games? How is "perfect matching" different from that?

It's not different, but I don't see how you get 91.

14 combination 2?

3:18 AM
@BrockAdams that's possible games
A round is seven games

Simultaneous games, picking from 14 with no replacement, right?

Right. For example, with 6 teams there are 15 possible rounds, pictured above. More than 6 choose 2.

@BrockAdams Right

@BrockAdams That picks two of the 14 teams and sets them against each other. Now there are 12 teams that need to be paired.

So I conjecture that the "weird constraints" are something made up to make the problem manageable by something other than brute force.

3:21 AM
@Marshmallow No, the weird constraints are "these three sets of two teams can't play eachother"

Maybe I'm mis-remembering my set math... This sure is harder than it was for Little League!

This isn't a textbook problem, this is a real-life problem. The constraints help a little, but not enough to make a big enough difference.

Ah, if it's not from a textbook then it's hopeless.
3

Right
I saw "14" and thought "hey, that's a small enough number, I bet my MacBook can run through those combinations in an hour or two and spit out the ones that work"
Was not expecting a number that Wolfram Alpha helpfully explains as being "~~ 71 × the number of red blood cells in the human body"

Neat, 14!!^8 is very nearly 3E46.
Popularly known as 30 quattuordecillion.

Okay, didn't know that. Good to know. Sorry to bother you, will show myself out :D

If we're changing the rule of thumb as Undo suggested yesterday, then that makes self-vandalism unambiguously tp.
i.e. "It's tp if we'd want to catch it were Smokey implemented as a system-level block."
Probably tp- rather than tpu- though - we probably don't need to blacklist the user for one easily corrected mistake.

8:29 PM
@ArtOfCode I use tpu on a user if I expect them to do it again, rage quitters scenario, where I want to see their next post to check if they are OK now. Only then it is time to rmblu. It might give some more false positives but we're alarmed immediately in case value is destroyed ...

@rene That sounds sane

@SmokeDetector ignore- (self vandalism + delete)

What's with all the ragequitting today?

:28892828 Shog's advice is for flagging, not Smokey. I'd want to confirm that with some other longer-term Charcoalers, but if vandalism is tp then it's tp for any user. You can still flag however you think appropriate.

8:31 PM
@Marshmallow It is international ragequit day.

Its the same user doing a global site nuke?

Looks like it
@Undo does this sound sane to you?

Oh crap. Let me get a CM.
Pinged Shog.

There he is again
@SmokeDetector k (targetted self vandalism)

Oh awesome, Brad's on it.

But maybe we don't need the blacklist then. Noise

8:38 PM
@Ferrybig User removed from blacklist (4812380 on stackoverflow.com).

Forgot that k also blacklisted him
I should have used tp-

Just tp.
yeah that

24 hour suspension on SO has been issued.

8:41 PM
The self vandalism isn't limited to SO only, its all his questions/answers he is nuking

Yeah also this biology.stackexchange.com/questions/20028/this-post-is-deleted, someone has rollback or flag rights?

I flagged on biology for a mod

@rene Likewise... oh well, they can have two flags to deal with.

I did it too.... so make it 3 flags

3 ... and counting

8:44 PM
Let me do an account : )

@ArtOfCode Woah... Didn't notice that you are a mod? And ArcticEcho?

Does someone have 10k on gamedev? he earned the disiplined badge there today, so he must have deleted atleast a 3 times upvotes question

@Ferrybig No, but Shog has a diamond, if he responds soon :)
@PraveenKumar ArcticEcho?

@ArtOfCode Names sound similar...

But yeah, I'm mod on Open Source and Hardware Recommendations

You've been told to stop vandalising your own posts already; you've been suspended on Stack Overflow for it. Stop, before a staff member has to suspend you everywhere. — ArtOfCode 9 secs ago

@ArtOfCode Ha ha... That's Sam.

8:46 PM
Oh. shrug I'm not well-acquainted enough with most of SOCVR

@ArtOfCode Okay, I am Praveen. Hello. :D Nice to meet you buddy. :)

Evening :)

And this is my first few times of HQ.

I... am me. :P One of the more recent Charcoalers, metasmoke admin, SE mod. And I don't even have close votes on SO :(

@ArtOfCode :O Why so?
You've got 2.2k and you can flag to close.

8:50 PM
I can flag, yeah. No votes yet, though, or reviews. Which is annoying.

@ArtOfCode I come handy there... :P
60 of 'em... ;)

Kinda helpful, aye :)

Hmm, what are the secondary drops on weekdays for?
I'd assume the large drop is questions being dropped from the queue. But the second one can't be a roomba (9 day roomba doesn't deal with non-closed questions).
Maybe close vote aging?
