while power be balanced on my network data storage is not yet

:)

the UPSes are humming happily with 35min on first UPS and 20-25 min on the second UPS
which is Good
just waiting on the SSD now heh
it SHOULD have been here by now (USPS)

That sounds like a quite respectable amount of time on the UPSs and reasonable balance between the two.

@Makyen well everything was on one with a 10min rundown time so yeah
it's not like i've got the money or space for a $1000 UPS unit so
these 'off the shelf' units work decent for what they are

7:08 PM
@ThomasWard For tracked packages, USPS is usually quite good, although actual deliver time during the day can be quite variable.

though I pulled the wrong cable earlier and everything went dead :|
so
@Makyen yeah it's an Amazon one day ship though
i'm in no hurry yet
so i mean

@ThomasWard Yeah, at that point you're talking quite a bit of room and $.
Quite a bit of $ just for the batteries.

@ThomasWard If you're getting 120V, then you can run 240 on the same pair of wires. You won't have a neutral, so can't split that into two 120V circuits, but it's possible to do. :;

migrating MS data over now. may take some time
what i don't understand is how the system is using 340GB of storage for this...

@ThomasWard That seems very high for this site.

8:14 PM
well the drive is thick-provisioned 250G
so we can store DB backups, etc.
the extra 100 COULD be snapshots but i'll check
i had provisioned more than enough space for data expansion, etc.

Yeah, but a DB backup isn't even 500MB.

no but i'm saying so we could store MULTIPLE backups
it's probably snapshots

Yeah, of course we want to store multiple backups, but that shouldn't get us to 340GB of used space.
Although, snapshots could do it.
If you are looking through and find some snapshots, keep in mind that we could still use something with a copy of the database between the date we restored from and when we lost data, if there happens to be something around.

8:21 PM
i'll check before we're back up

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially problematic ns configuration in body (1): Is there any way to clear Local storage Using Server side code such as c# etc by Manish Kumar Pandit on stackoverflow.com

That would be between 2020-02-13 and 2020-06-08 (I believe; I'd want to double check when MS is up).

@Makyen but i checked this the last time you asked and didn't see any recent snapshots, only really REALLY old ones
before January
(autoshapshot died in December)

@ThomasWard Ahh... I though you might have discovered a new stash of them. :;

don't think so.
gotta check what's there after teh migration before starting it up

8:23 PM
If it's what you looked through already, then no need to bother doing it again.

yeah the autoshapshot died in December
so it's not around anymore
so i don't have anything in the timeframe you're after

OK. Sorry, I keep hoping. :;
Not that it really matters. I just don't like loosing data. :;

yeah nor I which is why i'm keeping daily private DB backups now :p

:) That's a good thing.

and my prototype of the processor for the sanitizer is almost done
almost because I actually have to test the sucker :P

8:26 PM
cool. Yeah, that does need to be tested. :;

yep it was snapshots
cleans old snapshots
that'll take some time with disk consolidation i think heh
@Makyen well the 'prototype' test will be the 'get it to metasmoke' part
and then having you or Art or Undo alter the codebase to simply scan the directory
and process accordingly
all the heavy SQL stuff is being done on the other system :P
disk consolidation at 2%
it's an evil process lol

That will very likely be one of them to write code to scan the directory; definitely not me. I'm still at the pattern matching stage for programming in Ruby.

heh
i think it's simple enough to just disable some of the code while letting the rest run we just have to stagger it
so what i'm thinking is I'll let my stuff run and see what happens
get a good timing on it

9% but yeah disk consolidation is a pain as it basically compares teh delta between LastSnapshot and now. And applies the delta :p

thereby having one singular VMDK
which should remove the extra 100GB heh

@ThomasWard SD thinking MS is down shouldn't affect the MS WebSocket, but SD will only try to restore the WebSocket for a limited time (that's probably going to change shortly). When SD thinks MS is down, it will continue to try to send status pings. It will not send: post stats (i.e. reports), feedback, post deletion stats, scanning statistics, and won't try to update its list of code privileged users.
