We should probably consider removing "sangham.net" from blacklist. Right now all it is doing is catching one user that the mods can't figure out how to deal with right now, but doesn't appear to be spam as such.

If they got that many hits on a domain in that little time and they're the only one linking to it, are you sure it's not spam?
39 links from the same user.
336 results on SE.
sigh

They link it in every one of their answers. It's a forum/resource for Hinduism as I understand it. There's not really a ton to spam there TBH.

Well, you put it on the list.
If you want it removed, I'll do it.

All named the same.

@Mast many are unregistered, IIRC

@RyanM Unregistered yet multiple posts on it?
The SE system never ceases to amaze...

6:20 PM
Yes, they keep creating new accounts. One of several aspects that make the user problematic.

Yep, you can do that. A certain network troll has done this, which is how I know :-p

It's not clear why they keep doing this, but they do.

They seem like low-quality answers but the mods aren't deleting them, so...
I dunno.

Not spam though.

6:21 PM
Probably. There could be some affiliation that we don't know of, but certainly no proof that I've seen.

Arbitrary examples 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

@RyanM Not according to the mods anyways. Problematic, yes. But there are disagreements on their side for how to deal with it. For now, I'd say we'd be better off leaving it to them until further notice.

@Rubiksmoose Real problem is the 336 potential FP.

Yeah I'm not disagreeing with you here, to be clear :-)

@Mast I mean, those are all the same user too. Or 90+% IIRC

6:23 PM
My personal theory is that the new accounts are to avoid accumulating rep, as the answers aren't "given for stacks, exchange, [or] other world-binding trades"

Ah that would make sense

None of this makes sense.
336 hits from the same user would definitely be spam.

I mean, if there's genuinely no affiliation, it's not spam per se.

If the mods are doing nothing against it, they might be culpable.
This is really not good.
@RyanM With that many hits...

It's a legit site FWIW.

If it's genuinely a legit, unaffiliated reference, repeatedly linking it would be fine. I'm a little skeptical given that they seem to be the only one linking it, but I'm also completely unfamiliar with the subject matter.

6:27 PM
Curious: I know it takes 6 spam flags to auto-delete a post. Is the same true for NAA flags?

@DanielWiddis NAA doesn't delete.
Only redflags do

@VictorVosMottor Don't do that. Not only is there a typo, but we catch gmail addresses differently than that.

@DanielWiddis It is not; only review votes (or 20k delete votes) have that effect.

NAA/VLQ flags go into a queue though, which may attract deletion votes.

so is it a waste of a flag to NAA flag something someone else has already NAA-flagged?

6:29 PM
@DanielWiddis You won't be putting it into the queue twice unless it has already gone through.

@Mast I'm not going to ascribe blame and I also have a tiny bit more knowledge of this from talking with them that I don't want to disclose without their explicit approval, but I'm saying that there is disagreement among them about how to deal with this user.

@Rubiksmoose sigh
I understand.

@Rubiksmoose Also, thanks for relaying the gist, that's quite useful for figuring out how to feedback them.

6:31 PM
We'll let them sort out their own mess.

...which, I guess, is FP for now until/unless the mods there decide they're problematic.

That's kinda where I'm at on this. If they ask for our help we can do that. Right now, it's just mucking up our system with posts that nobody knows how to deal with.

Do we want a system-wide block on it?

That'd be a "no" for the time being, at least.

I'm going with no.

6:33 PM
Then it's a good thing we've thrown it out.

If they start posting this stuff elsewhere on the network or the mods change their mind, it's another story. But for now...

Absolutely.

You can enter the following in the console to wipe FIRE's localStorage values and start over: localStorage.removeItem('fire-user-data'); localStorage.removeItem('fire-user-sites'); localStorage.removeItem('fire-sites');

If they keep it up, might just go on the blacklist.

I haven't yet tried clearing cookies or cache, though, if you think that might help.

I wonder: what people want when they're posting such meaningless questions/answers as OKKKKKK... etc. ?
