@CalvT븃 well I have a fun little script I wrote that (locally) does this so :p

@gparyani It'd require refactoring both the git command calls, and the git PR generation commands

@angussidney Out of curiosity, what edits are you making to @CalvT븃 's comments?

6:11 PM
@gparyani the autoapproval system runs under angussydney's account

@gparyani None - it's automatic

it's the third party app using his access to 'edit' the post
but it's an automatic system

Ah, GitHub shows him as editing his comment

because it leverages his account to do it
but it adds the code-admins approved icon is all to those

@ThomasWard Can you explain, please?

6:13 PM
@gparyani The only headache I have with the consideration of adding the additional comments is that it'd have to be added as a multiline commit msg.
to get data into the commit.
or into the PR contents
@gparyani it's a git internal / system interaction thing

@ThomasWard don't think it'd matter to git - as reporting a post doesn't touch git right?

grabs the code to verify what's going on, and refreshes his local Smokey copy
@CalvT븃 it matters depending on how we do it

FYI @ThomasWard I'm not referring to the watch/pull system...I'm referring to the reporting system

shush while I get my stuff

as in !!/report

6:14 PM
ah misread
@gparyani that's a lot of MS interaction evils then
and that's its own can of worms
Very likely doable from the SmokeDetector side of things
but to actually make it do something on the MS side is nontrivial and painful most likely
so that needs @Undo and @ArtOfCode's opinions specifically, less so than mine
because the MS interaction bits are its own can of worms / circle of (coding) hell.
@gparyani also, you'd break the existing function

But if you exclude the part to add in the manual reason to metasmoke, would it be easy to only propagate the reason field in Smokey's chat messages?

because the existing syntax is:

Where it'd get messy is that currently report allows more than one post at a go - making Smokey discern between urls and text could be more hassle than it's worth

We allow multiple url reports in one go: !!/report url1 url2 url3 ...

@CalvT븃 Reasons would be specified in "quotes"

6:17 PM
@gparyani that'd require a lot more logic to handle the arguments array
and I mean a lot

@ThomasWard I think I make it clear in the issue that reasons would be specified in quotes while more URLs won't

we have to first process the args to find any individual items in the args array with a " in them
and when we find them, determine the start and end points.

@gparyani Do quotes stay as quotes in chat?
Let me check

and then strip them from the args array we pass into the processing system so that the report system handles only URL arguments
which I believe is just a simple loop pulls code

Quotes are parsed as " by the chat

6:19 PM
@CalvT븃 Don't think you'd have those in URLs...you'd have escape sequences instead (e.g. %20 for space)

@gparyani it parses it as HTML I believe, and not as part of URLs
not as URLs
double checks

No sane URL would begin with an ampersand.

point.missed == true
processing the data remains the same

@gparyani But it would have the & from /

They don't "need" to be deleted... many spam accounts are never manually destroyed.

7:57 PM
@Catija They aren't? I was under the impression they got deleted typically.

No. Most mods probably never notice that there's been spam deleted on their site unless it gets mod flagged in a way that persists after the post is deleted by Charcoal people.

@Catija Is there an automated system?

Not sure?

something with only being able to raise spam flags through API

@JAD No, for account deletion. Like Roomba.

@GrantGarrison it has been switched off, see meta.stackexchange.com/a/48263/295232

JAD
well, there is the automatic post ban
I guess that solves a lot of issues

Looks like MS is behind on some too.
FR: Roomba for accounts with a certain name that have posted only spam.

8:04 PM
Why bother specifically with this one? Out of my 8000+ spam flags on Drupal, I think 7500+ still have an existing account.
It's a non-issue.

JAD
I'm not sure what the added value of that is
They post spam, it gets removed, regardless of whether it is a new account or not
making a new account is fairly trivial
and if they post spam on the same account twice, the username was already blacklisted, which makes it easier to detect and autoflag

So given that making a new account is easy, it's actually better to have them post the spam on the same account, rather than a new one because the old one was deleted
