There's a regular on U&L who posted something silly (nothing offensive, just a placeholder for a stupid FGITW post) and is now blacklisted. The user isn't a spammer and has posted loads of good content.

link?

@quartata Where <link> is the user's profile on the site?

Yep yep

@terdon yup, !!/rmblu <profile link> or feed back f to the report

@terdon User is not blacklisted.

well there you go

Likely already de-blacklisted by an FP feedback

that sort of thing doesn't stick on the blacklists for very long

12:04 AM
Hmm. Thanks @ArtOfCode, @quartata. I guess they've already been unblacklisted, but the original report remained. Cool.

The reports always stick around. You'd see a notification here if one was ever destroyed (for auditing purposes)
I'm probably still on some instance's blacklist

Yup, FP feedbacks on all that user's posts

I do a lot of test posts for debugging

Yeah, I see three cases of users I'm confident aren't spammers. But all three posted stuff that should have gotten them blacklisted, so no problem there.

NH.
is this a charcoal-specific blacklist I assume?

Yes. Specifically the user blacklist

@ArtOfCode @Undo IMO, NAA feedback on an autoflagged post should trigger a similar in-room message from MS as we see when an FP feedback is posted.

@Seth 8 manual flags cast on autoflagged FPs through Charcoal systems, ever

@ArtOfCode That's not bad. That's still 8 deleted posts with the 5 flag system though
or do the flags also scale with threshold?

They do
That's probably the biggest misunderstanding here
There are no FPs at the threshold we want to cast 5 flags

1:14 AM
Lemme pull that data on posts above 300 weight
0
No flags on autoflagged FPs above 300 weight cast through Charcoal systems, ever.

That's good.
I think there is a lot of confusion around how autoflagging works.

oh yeh.... tell me 'bout it

As you can see, I don't even understand all of it. And I think I follow the project more than most ordinary users (not nearly as much as some of you though haha)
@WELZ I think it might be contributing to some of the concerns expressed in the meta post

@quartata But people can't see that because A) The 5-flag proposal is specifically worded to not be that 5-flags will only be on high threshold posts, and B) the data available on the dashboard, and elsewhere on MS, is always for all autoflagged posts, without any ability to separately see data based on thresholds.

So... so far, I'm not seeing any blocking issues. A bunch of suggestions, a bunch of people asking about bot accounts, some procedural questions, and a lot of "be careful about unilateral last-flag nukes". But no "the very premise of this idea is fundamentally flawed and you need to reconsider your life choices".

Yeah... given Shog's reaction to that, I'm discounting it.

1:30 AM
That's understandable, given the... reasoning... displayed. OTOH, it clearly shows that there are a number of people who do feel that way (it had quite a few up-votes, just more down-votes)

Yup. As always, if people want it off on their site, fine, but they do have to be reasonable about it

Based on the discussions under the meta post, I think a feature would be good
Let Smokey comment on an autoflagged post, so mods can easily know what have been going on.

Not comment.

Also, a comment'd be helpful in case an FP is flagged. People can then explain to the author that the system generated a false positive.

Is there a reason why Smokey doesn't post much outside of chat?
I was thinking that some of these Charcoal Meta Posts might be better off posted on Smokey's account, just to make it crystal clear that the post represents all of Charcoal rather than just Andy or Undo or whoever.

@Randal'Thor well Smokey doesn't exist - as you know - so it's probably better smokes' representatives do the talking. In the posts it can be made clear that Andy or whomever is representing a collection
Besides - whomever is posting on smokes' behalf is still an individual

Rob
@Randal'Thor I think it's good to add a certain level of accountability. Posting it through SD, to me at least, doesn't look as transparent.

Well, it does exist - it must have an account on some site to be able to use chat :-)

@Rob Good thanks! How are you?

@Rob To me it seems more transparent. If the meta post is a joint effort, why not post it under a joint account? And more than that, from the one account which, more than any other, can be seen as really representing Charcoal.

The "I've seen many of their spam flags being retracted..." is an issue when we're looking at 5 flags. I can't stress enough that we have to be accurate when flagging. I don't want to be the flag police, but we can't be ending up with moderators messaging people to tell them to back off with the spam flags.
To that end... is there anything we can do or measures we can put in place to help that not happen?
