HEY
That's not very nice...

well it explains it right there in the commit message hash

it's early here

Ohhhh
Yes, very bad. I've tried again, and luckily I got a new hash this time :)

[ metasmoke ] ci/circleci success on baf4eeb: Your tests passed on CircleCI!

why aren't we using Travis on MS?
Is it because Travis doesn't support Ruby or RoR?

@iBug because Circle is the same thing

Then why two on Smokey?

'cause that's how it worked out :P
Not necessary, but we basically race them.
Sometimes one's faster. Used to be Circle was always faster, it's changed a few times

From me recent experiences Travis has been faster than Circle since quite some time ago.

@Undo Any other MS issues I can work on without knowing much about the history/codebase?

Know any JS?
We've got a fun issue with websockets that causes rows to appear multiple times in lists. Not sure what the root cause is.

Know JS? Yes. Will JS look pretty? No.

you'll fit right in, then

4:17 PM
@thesecretmaster We have xo :P

It's likely that we're just double-subscribing to the websocket channel somewhere

OK. Steps to repro?

(or more accurately, never unsubscribing)

Also, quite possibly the most horrific thing I've seen so far at university. Doing group coursework, one of my group just posted this in Slack:

uh oh

4:17 PM
> I spoke to $Lecturer today and she said that we could use local files (that we can store in the github) rather than an SQL database to make things easier. She recommended we use XML.

to make things... easier?

story of @Undo's life if you sub out XML for plain text

XML? Interesting choice of NoSQL db.

Apparently so
seriously wtf

@quartata Point.
although Art's project probably isn't quite as distributed and... weird
@ArtOfCode Was there ever an issue for the double-websocket thing?

4:19 PM
@Undo probably

I didn't see one.
But I can often be half blind, so that would also explain it.

Here's one:
It looks like we fixed that one, but I saw it yesterday on the flag logs table.

@Undo Where can I find this flag logs table?

Pertinent information: We're using ActionCable.

J F
@thesecretmaster Maybe integrate this to make our navbar less magic-y?

4:22 PM
@GrumpyCrouton Then I would ping an admin (or user with higher privs) here to ask for reviewer permissions
!!/whois admin

@chade_ I am aware of 5 admins. Currently in this room: Undo, ArtOfCode, tripleee, Andy. Not currently in this room: angussidney.

Also using Turbolinks, so page loads aren't actually page loads (it AJAXs in the new page), which means JS state can persist.

@JF Can you make an issue? I'll see if I can rerpo the flag logs thing, and if I can't I'll do this.

I much prefer the way SCOT does seeds over what we have here

SCOT?
Supreme Court Of The

4:24 PM
I wanted to do that, but we have special needs. For example, reasons need corresponding posts generated.

J F
@Undo Additionally, there’s a handy helper if you import { route } from './utils' which lets you do route('/path', onEnter, onExit).

@thesecretmaster there's almost certainly a way to adapt it and keep the neatness

I didn't get murdered during my english speaking, I'm alive :)

J F
When you visit /path, onEnter gets called, and when you leave /path, onExit gets called, if you provide it.

@Undo Secure Case Observation & Tracking :P

4:25 PM
Acronym was a bit of a stretch, but eh.

It was a backronym from the start :P

Hey @Undo do we want to implement this?
I know these are mostly SOBotics users that would like it to be consistent with Natty

(Did you ever sort whatever issues there were human-side with SCOT?)

but personally I prefer having all notifications in my inbox

@Mithrandir bahahahahahahahahaha

4:26 PM
@quartata please no

@Mithrandir ok

@thesecretmaster ya know scot.crhq is still returning 422s, right?

@Mithrandir TL;DR: politics got me kicked out

It's not in use, so I don't particularly care. It's also probably not simple enough that it'll take me < 30 minutes.

4:28 PM
leadership was very much red

@ArtOfCode I don't know about you, but I'm not having human-side issues

leadership did very much not like being open and honest

leadership did not like me attempting to make them be open and honest
leadership kicked me out

Well... that's unfortunate.

4:29 PM
Right then, I've got nothing on so its time to get some rep on SO :)

Yeap
but hey we built a thing and it worked and it helped, so I'll take that

So is that project dead or what? Hosted somewhere else?

@Mithrandir CRHQ is still alive, just I'm not in it. @thesecretmaster is, though

@JakeSymons You want to get "some rep" or "Legendary" on SO?

@ArtOfCode In fairness, you did kinda do a dumb thing. But if we really wanna start airing dirty laundry, we can go back to the old room

4:31 PM

@iBug well rep in general would be nice :)

4:32 PM
@JF wrong finger, but yeah

@ArtOfCode BTW, do you want to come back? Things have really calmed down over there, and many of the angry people are either not there or not in charge of things anymore.

no no I just wanna know if it still works

@thesecretmaster hehehe, that sounds like it'll go wonderfully badly. Where're Ted, Alex, and Holly?

@ArtOfCode Hahaha! It all looks so simple, then when you try and make it, it isn't simple. I'm learning that as I try to make rails.

@thesecretmaster well... the real basics of it are simple enough
You need a query intermediate object that stores requested query parameters and constructs the query when it needs to be executed and not before
so that method chaining like .joins.where.select works

Yeah. And you also need to encapsulate output in some kind of Enumerable
But also, an intermediate query object isn't quite as simple as it sounds (I assume)
