@CalvT thanks. I just bookmarked this support.apple.com/en-au/HT201236

@JF chrome for now. I can't cope with too many changes
@Henders expensive, but we have such slow internet here and windows is such a bloated buggy nightmare, I want a high performance machine. I'm tired of waiting half my programming life for my work to sync and compile stuff

Safari is really cool though. It’s like the only browser that’s shipped ES6 modules.

Hey! Edge is actually not behind on that! :)

this pc is over 3 times faster on the internet and it took me 10 mins to set it up

FF all the way for me

when you set up windows is takes hours to update everything

@YvetteColomb Yeah, I see no issue with that. I had the same experience when I bought my MacBook Pro. It was a big expense but now ~ 5 years on its still a pretty solid workhorse!

10:12 AM
@YvetteColomb Not Windows 10

@Henders good to hear :)

I'm on a Surface Book and honestly it beats a Macbook 13"

@CalvT still painful, the updates are intrusive. I used this little mac air and it was quicker than my windows machine - the machine had . ssd and good specs
ah ok, the surface machines are supposed to be good. I looked at getting one

It even has a kind of "Magsafe" :)
14 Hour battery life, better than retina screen, touchscreen, full USB ports

14 hours is good
I don't use laptops anymore

10:16 AM
Then yeah iMacs are the way to go unless you want a Surface Studio - and tbh they aren't that well spec'd

@CalvT ...has anyone heard of a PC?

I don't like towers :P

ttytt I needed to buy an imac for developemtn anyway. It was more cost effective just to change OS

@CalvT then get an ITX tower and put it behind your screen :)
Or get a really good looking one like this one:

Henders see's where this is going and runs for the hills...

Food for though - Should this audit be removed? on Meta SO and the Post Mentioned
Just Spam flags vs R/A

If spam & r/a flags are essentially the same (as stated by Pops), do they really make a difference when selecting audits?

No AFAIK

@Braiam I know spam flags trigger audits. But rude/offensive flags are not supposed to. I was saying this post got flagged as spam first, which might be why that check didn't get applied here. — animuson ♦ 17 hours ago
Are you going to tell animuson that he might be wrong?

Is there criteria for rmblu?

@Henders the main use is removing users that have been tpu'd when they should have been tp'd

1:29 PM
Not objective ones. I removed this user from the blacklist because I think it's unlikely that they'll do that again, and if they do, we'll catch it anyway.

Like vandalism
Or in that case, they posted an answer to bump their question, which is borderline abusive

Yeah, sorry, @CalvT I meant what is the criteria for removal. That user posted an answer saying 'Help me help help me.. ' etc on their own question yesterday. Glor removed so I wondered if there was a rule of thumb for when people could get removed from the list.

Also, if you submit fp- feedback via chat, they'll get removed automatically. Or so I thought, I can't remember the details.

If they aren't proper spammers or trolls

@CalvT By that logic, the blacklist should be removed immediately. It looks to me that it's a case of 'if they post again after a minor abuse then we remove them'.

It isn't the most useful rule we have, but it does catch some posts which go otherwise unnoticed.

tpu- by Glorfindel

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured.
I was going to suggest removing that person if they'd had 2 good posts in a row so I was too harsh :P

@Henders Well I would usually tp in those cases, but there are some people who tpu. But Smokey doesn't tell us if someone does tpu after a tp (I think?) so it's easy to miss. There's no list of blacklisted users either

I think we're talking at cross purposes. The user I'm talking about was blacklisted yesterday for abuse which was correct. Today they edited their post and that was flagged with smokey because they were blacklisted from their abuse yesterday. It's at that point I considered removing them because they did abuse yesterday but they didn't do it this time so it means they are probably back on the ol' straight and narrow. Sorry for the confusion, I'm not expressing my point well, today :P @CalvT

A: Where can I listen to authentic Fado in Lisbon?

Manuel MarçalI think the only way to enjoy a true fado evening is with a local because even the good places have different musicians/singers in each day. And also the places where Portuguese fado enthusiasts go aren't listed. Go to www.fatum.pt or www.facebook.com/fatumlisboa so that you may have the chance ...

New user registers and posts about their company.
I would be inclined to report it to smokey.

@JoErNanO careful
generally, unless there's an exceptional reason, don't deal with moderator stuff off-site

@ArtOfCode I agree. I will ignore this email and maybe even delete it. This has nothing do to with my job and should not be on my professional communication.

I tend to reply to stuff like that with "I won't discuss my moderation via email; if you'd like further detail or explanation, post a question on Travel Meta".

Good idea.

basically only so that they can't say "ArtOfCode is evil and ignored me", but yeah :)

Yeah but @ArtOfCode is evil.
So no harm done.
