Dict-based approach to parsing, split instead of startswith

!!/rev

Yeah, we just lost the aliases. No big deal.

We could split on a more general regex instead of just spaces

12:44 AM
I'm not sure what's going on here.

@SmokeDetector looks like someone's git credentials are broken

We should import post_message_in_room.
But it doesn't, somehow?

If not for the stupidly named test-a (you can guess who that was), we could split off the command on \W character and all the alive? rev? etc would work fine.
As is, it could be splitting on [^\w-], I suppose.

@Bookend You'd have to exempt ! and /, but it'd work

or just rename it and make sure to leave comments on commits like that. testans is fine

12:47 AM
Circular imports. :(
... and this is why I didn't like the PR. Chasing down stuff like this is not fun. :/

if you've got circular imports, it means you need to split your code a bit more

@Undo Yup.
@Quill We didn't... until this PR grumble grumble. :P It works out.
@Undo Yeah, easiest fix.

I'm around book, just slow at times

I see discussions about my PR above. Is there anything I can help with? I'm having problems following what the original issue was that everyone was trying to fix/troubleshoot.

I think the issue with methods that relied on post_message_in_room has been fixed.
There is a minor issue with using, say, !!/alive? instead of !!/alive which used to work and now doesn't.
That should be corrected if the command is isolated by a delimiter from the set [^\w!/-] instead of just a space.
Will also eliminate the need for the current alias why? for why

4:05 AM
Thanks @Bookend. I see there was an issue with test-a too, but that looks like it's been taken care of.

@Andy Short version was we didn't have tests for errorlogs so the PR broke it. I guess that's the problem of not having enough tests :P

Tests are for the weak
Though, we should be able to add some a bit more easily now

Fortunately we get a lot of spam at this time.

@Bookend should we make a command to blacklist websites? It won't be that difficult, you just have to store it in a file, and read it. That will also save a lot of work

This was discussed before and is unlikely to be implemented in this form. For one thing, on a few occasions Undo had to trash Smokey-generated files when they got corrupted. We wouldn't want this to happen to the blacklist.

Being committed to a GitHub repo is a safer place than being on a disk or SD card in someone's RPi.
Some time ago, we used a pseudo command "blacklist candidate" in chat: just leaving a message like "blacklist candidate example.com". Someone would collect those into blacklist using chat search; no need to ping a specific person.

So why is it now disabled?

6:09 AM
it's a psuedo command; it's not real

So we can do it now also?

You can probably just ping bookend / undo / hichris to add it
