@wizzwizz4 I say yes

It was mod flagged for deletion

@AshishAhuja I assume that someone modflagged

but deletions are messy.

So is the trash can

@angussidney heh, a mod flag seems a bit too much

One line and 20 lines of talking about it vs one line ;p

I flagged that because it looked promotion

Well, ideally, you just go "hey, can you guys hide the bodies please?"
and you guys can get your own backhoe ;p

12:13 PM
@Ramanujan you flagged your own message because it looked like promotion? If it existed, you'd get a Charcoal Hat for that.

@DavidPostill it was deleted by a moderator... did you notice the word "tracking" was a link?

@JanDvorak Yes I did, but it didn't look completely spammish (why spam UPS?). Embedding UPS tracking on your own website is a reasonable thing to want to attempt - although clearly it should have been its own question - hence NAA

Same here, I flagged NAA as well. Note that the moderator only deleted the answer; if they had spam flagged it you'd need an extra click to see the post now.

WTF
alright I need to poke this thing
@Undo @ArtOfCode It looks like we may need to do two things with !!/pull
(1) Switch to Master, git pull. (2) Switch to Deploy, git pull

11:18 PM
That's ms
That's make sense

I see where it needs edited
standby

we may be able to get away with this

sorry for switchin, my computer's weird >.<
so, fun fact, we switched it to checkout deploy

Yeah, that make a lot of sense.

but we did not switch the check over
bleh

11:23 PM
And since master wasn't getting updated, we would get weird conditions when trying to blacklist stuff.

@Undo mhm
So we do one of two things:
(1) Switch the checks to Deploy
(2) checkout master, pull, checkout deploy, continue.
@Undo what's the workflow from Smokey? Checkout master, PR, eventually Deploy is updated if merge request is approved?

Not sure, lemme get to a real machine. Probably twenty minutes

OK. I'll make an issue and assign it to myself in the interim on GH
since I'm stabbing it today :)

11:43 PM
CI on 7a5e200 failed.

@ThomasWard Currently, make all changes to master, then MS will automatically merge them into deploy

@ThomasWard well, that workflow may change, since in the future we will enable review requirements on the MS merge to deploy, so deploy may start lagging behind master

please don't die?

11:49 PM
!!/errorlogs 50
gonna smack this thing
@angussidney we can always change the workflow. Are we saying we'd rather keep it checking master, switch to it, autopull Master, then continue?
which is one of the two approaches
!!/errorlogs 50
and by 'change the workflow' I meant in the code

What we want to set it up to do is:

1) Checkout master
2) Update master from remote
3) Make changes
4) Push or PR
5) Checkout deploy

@angussidney Unless we auto pull for Master, we can't get the Update part done
because HEAD will always be out of sync
the only way around that is to force a 'master' pull so the branch checks aren't out of sync
that's the only way that workflow works

Not quite following you

11:52 PM
because otherwise we get the "Not updated on HEAD"
@angussidney alright
Currently
gitmanager.py checks out deploy, and only does the pull commands on Deploy branch
but, it doesn't pull from Master
so we have a HEAD mismatch, that results in all blacklist failures, per:
        git.checkout("master")

        # Check that we're up-to-date with origin (GitHub)
        git.remote.update()
        if git("rev-parse", "refs/remotes/origin/master").strip() != git("rev-parse", "master").strip():
            return (False, "HEAD isn't at tip of origin's master branch")
Checking out Master doesn't pull Master
which needs to be done for the rev-parse to match
and to avoid a False failure case

Yeah

@angussidney so, in order for this to work, we need to add a git.pull()
which will pull Master first
then rev-parse

True

that's only an extra, what, five lines of code?
because I want to make sure we dont' segfault again
:p
but if that's what we wish to do I can get that fixed shortly.

11:57 PM
that becomes this:
git.checkout("master")
try:
    git.pull()
except:
    pass
and if it pulled, then we avoid a ref-out-of-date problem
and if it failed, we still hit our failure case
if git.pull() fails it'll error out hard and we end up with the same case with the bad GH credentials, which I fixed
if it fails in the try/except, it'll error out gracefully
without hard-crashing
@angussidney That's the only way to approach it, given how we want the workflow to work
