@devius I'd say this is too localized to the exact model and the situation of the OP. Those kinds of question should all be closed, pointing to a general canonical question on how to check whether RAM is suitable for a machine

That's what I thought but I haven't found a good question and answer regarding that issue. I will look further though.

Q: How can I tell what RAM will fit my computer?

If I want to add more RAM to my computer, how can I buy something compatible? What kinds are there? How do I determine which kind my computer will accept and how much I can add?

I've been using Crucial for finding RAM for my Mac. Doesn't work on Linux though.

@nhinkle I'm sure we pissed off lots of people with comments explaining when something is to be on a certain site, or asking for more information... It did just happen after I got the last vote to close a question though. Two secs, I'll see if I can find it

It's the internet. Shit happens. Just let us know when there's a problem and we'll resolve it. Sometimes people go crazy... only way to avoid it is to not go online at all. :)
