@nhinkle Yeah I can clear it up. I'm a moron and thought they were re-writes of previous edits. :( Sorry about that, can I do anything to fix it?

12:57 AM
@techie007 I informed him of the mistake and told him to resubmit them and we'll approve the edit. Thanks for letting us know what happened. I assume this was your first time dealing with tag wikis in the suggested edit quee?

@nhinkle - Your assumption is correct. Unfortunately I picked a bad time to start trying them out, I should have waited until I had more coffee. :)

Just a quick/random question, does anyone know if there will be any more SU moderator elections this year?

@Breakthrough I don't know, but the last set were in Jan/Feb this year, so I'd assume similar timing next year if at all

7:14 PM
so... one of the users on security.SE asked whether this should be migrated to security.SE:

Q: How Internet Explorer core reacts to uninstallation?

asmoLet's say I update my IE8 to IE9 through Windows Update. Then, I remove IE9 from my computer using the "Turn Windows feature on or off" panel. The IE application will be gone, but will my IE core still be IE9 or will it have rolled back to IE8? I'm asking this because, while want the IE applic...

Oh, hey... didn't know this place existed. Cool.

in The DMZ, 2 mins ago, by Iszi
The guy obviously needs some education about keeping his software up to date for security purposes.
personally, i dont think that reason given by @Iszi is enough to get that migrated, but as i'm kinda on a caffeine-induced megacrazymode... i thought i'd come here and get SU mod opinions
@KronoS @DMA57361 ^

It may be a little stretch, but the OP did appear to specifically ask for the question to be addressed from a security standpoint.

now you know why I dragged @Iszi over here :p

generally we don't migrate stuff away if it's actually valid on the site unless the OP asks us to - we don't migrate all Apple or Linux questions to AD, AU or U&L for example
2
it sounds like the OP is a little confused thou tbh

7:17 PM
@DMA57361 ditto

from a technician perspective...

I'm not saying it wouldn't be properly served on SU - I just think it would be better served at ITSec.

i was like "wth is wrong with you?" when i was reading the question
just to put that out there... i think the OP is a tad screwy in that regard

@TheEvilPhoenix Same

out for lunch :P

7:19 PM
@TheEvilPhoenix I think he's not screwy enough, is the problem... as in, has a few loose... yeah, I know that was stretching.

@Iszi yeah, it's a reoccuring problem with the various other sites that overlap us - just see out meta for requests about Apple stuff and AD :)

@DMA57361 So, the question would be then, is there enough forseeable benefit to the question (and/or the target site's community) for it to be migrated?

IMO, no
but i defer to @DMA57361
:P

It doesn't feel like a particularly good question tbh

@DMA57361 As in, it's just not a good question or it's just a "you're doing it wrong" question?

7:24 PM
both? :P

possibly a bit of both, but maybe I'm thinking through it too much

thats your job
since we asked for your input as an SU mod

heh, indeed

I think it's a matter of user education, and having the right community to do it will be essential to having it done right.

well I'm currently disinclined to migrate, it doesn't feel good and migration rule 1 is "don't migrate crap" - especially to a non-standard migration path

Mkay. I'll just ping some of the gurus in our chat to hit on it.
Most/all of us are on SOFU to one degree or another, but probably don't watch them nearly as much as we do ITSec.

@TheEvilPhoenix, given the user is only really asking "will my IE core still be IE9 or will it have rolled back to IE8?" you comment could well be an answer

@DMA57361 can you convert it to an answer?

nope
we can do answer→comment but not the other way

i'll move it myself then
there its an answer
and now i will gain more rep
which will add to my stackexchange global rep score
on my quest to reach 4666 (quadruple-evil :P)

7:33 PM
lol, wouldn't that be 6666?

no, not according to what i've concluded on askubuntu chat

@DMA57361 No, by that line of thinking it would be 666666666666.

2666 got them scared...
3666 got them more scared
4666 will end all

so what happens if you skip straight over 4666?

Was going to comment-respond to @TheEvilPhoenix's comment but he'd moved it to an answer already. So, I did a follow-on answer instead.

7:34 PM
well then i end the universe anyways
in my never-ending quest to increase my evil :P

uhhh, but if there's no universe what're you going to be evil in/to?

the multiverse :P
and once my evil reaches critical mass (6666), the multiverse will end, and be reformed because of the mass explosion of evil energies :P
(yes, i'm strange when really hyped up on caffeine :P)

lol
well, I'm just going to back away slowly over here

the unfortunate thing is...
these caffeine induced megacrazy streaks led to my 500+ flag weight on askubuntu
:P

@TheEvilPhoenix What is that, like an insta-nuke flag or something?

7:39 PM
@Iszi higher flag weight helps your flags be nearer the top of the queue

and you get the Deputy badge at 500

points to his Deputy badge on his Ask Ubuntu profile

Isn't "this looks like homework help" a close reason yet?

Q: if and vlookup function help

user22910http://i.imgur.com/9NLtL.png the exercise is to use 'if' and 'vlookup' functions to return the tax rate based on the annual income and number of people in the household. so far, i've tried inputting: =IF(AND(B$2=3,C$2<=35000),VLOOKUP(C2,'Tax Index'!A3:E8,5)) but the third attribute in vlook...
