what isnt adorable is how people get banned without any notifications in their inboxes with information on how to prevent doing the same thing that got them banned. especially if the ban were to go un-noticed by leaving the computer during the period.
there should definitely be an improvement to the system

5:07 PM
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere What are were you banned from?

5:19 PM
root access I assume for replying to a controversial post

5:38 PM
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Probably. Your post made a bad joke inappropriate post worse :/

I removed it pretty quick after realizing I didn't want to be a part of it
still, if I were to leave the desk to grab a drink I wouldnt have noticed
there should be a better system in place

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere That was the right thing to do.
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Don't worry - there is no black mark for that. For a regular suspension you would have had a message.

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere in theory you should have seen a message of some kind... :/

A: Impose a re-entry delay on users kicked out of a chat room

balphaThis has been implemented now. The short story is: room owners can kick abusive users, who will then be banned from re-entering the room for a certain time. Of course you want not just the short story but all the dirty details, so here they are: In the user popup that appears when you click on ...

actually the chat refreshed then prevented me from posting with a message but then it refreshed again by itself . so if I went and grabbed a beverage during my period I would have never noticed the suspension

odd

so here's how to works
it*

I believe you have to click on the message to remove it. That's how it's supposed to work anyway. An inadvertent browser refresh would break this.

you get kick-muted, your chat refreshes. (I hope this doesnt mean that it imposes some sort of client side block that can be hacked around) any messages you try to send result in a (similar to a you dont have an internet connection or you posted too many times in a row) you're suspended do you want to retry sending the message.

after the period your chat auto refeshes again and you can post, but if I never posted in the period between the first and final refreshes I wouldnt have noticed I even got suspended
just wanted to point out that flaw

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere If it is a bug, then maybe bring it up on meta.stackexchange.com ?

maybe the whole point of a kick-mute is to stop spammers and people sending innapropriate things on a roll rather than to be like "you were bad, Im pointing it out to you, sit in the corner to think about what you done"

6:02 PM
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere That too.
