Would this question be on topic for superuser?

@Kortuk send it over, I think it is on-topic...

@studiohack Thankyou!

Cheers @Kortuk - thanks for checking! :)

@studiohack We get many questions that fit on superuser, in the long term I think we will probably want a migration path users can vote for.

@random Hey, I've got a question
@random I tend to edit things to say "How to -- " (even though I don't always agree that's the best way) because of meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/69769/… and to avoid it being subjective. It seems as though people on SU feel differently. What would be the best approach to changing titles?

@jonsca if that's the only change you're making, it's not really necessary or even an appropriate use of editing.
If you're already making other edits though, then improving the title is great, but I wouldn't just add "How to" to everything unless it really clarifies the title.

Hey @nhinkle Thanks. No, it's not the only change I'm making, but I was trying to form the titles into more a more "questiony" feel

@jonsca have you met specific opposition to that behavior?

I had an edit rejected just now with the title being the reason, but I've had edits that I've done in the past changed from "How to foo?" to "How do I foo?" I was under the impression that Jeff preferred the former, but maybe I'm mapping too much SO onto SU (or I'm not informed!)

@jonsca link to edit?
nvm i found it

I'm not upset about the edit reject or anything, but I do want my edits to be helpful superuser.com/suggested-edits/6451

see gareth's edit as a better example. in that case it was a fairly trivial edit and the title wasn't really an improvement from my perspective

Yes, I can see how it's better. He does use the "How can I" form, though (and I'm not about to question the top editor of SU, but that part doesn't feel comfortable to me)

It's all sort of subjective, and depends on the context of the question. You can see if @random has anything more to say about that one specifically, but basically, just use your judgement about what sounds right and portrays the question accurately.

Okay, yeah, usually they go through smoothly, so I just wanted some clarification. Thanks for taking the time.

No problem @jonsca. Thanks for your editing help!

All six or so edits came around in the same time frame, so it was easy to see them in bulk. And they just tacked on "How to" trying to make it a question which read awkwardly. Other sites might like having questions with full fluffed out titles, but it makes the whole thing look like a content farm. Did think about rejecting them all though because of the tongue fall.
