woo hoo! ... I mean "Doh"

1 hour later…
12:19 PM
@Tester101 My dad used to have me follow him as he took his car in for service in random places. You don't get heads shaved and NOZ installed from the local gas station. He seemed to forget that my station wagon was just lucky to see the small dot in the distance after he took off from stop lights. And this was pre-cell phone when my next option would be to turn around and wait for him to call the house.

@BMitch A silver toilet badge!? You must know a lot about toilets!

I'm a master crapper.

i ran a car club back in the day - went to a few shows
never got into no2 - scary stuff
i'd like to build a kit car someday from the chassis up - not a knock off like a cobra - something custom

I used to race cars.

OMG you were such a cute child!!!

12:34 PM
I know, what happened to you?!
:)

That's some random kid on the internet, but thanks.

so your looking at young children? gross dude

Image search for pinewood car.

One of my dad's friends had access to a small air-strip, so once or twice a year a half dozen of them would go out to play with their toys.

@lsiunsuex You said he's cute

12:38 PM
dad owned a body shop back in the day till his partner f'ed him
the partner eventually got cancer and died at a young age - karma's a bitch
i have a dream / goal... when one of my startups becomes successful and i have expendable cash - i'm gonna wake him up early one morning, fly both of us to NYC, go to a lamborgini dealer and buy one and drive it back to buffalo
hes a big car guy
haha, AAA has a gas trip calculator taking into account the car - 2011 gallardo spyder - 406 miles, 32 gallons used, $120 in gas - thats actually a lot less than i thought

@lsiunsuex yeah but is that 55 mph or 95?

i'm gonna assume 55mph
and not 180mph

I can't drive 55

@BMitch me neither..even in my cutlass that has a spedo that only goes to 85

They should really adjust transmissions to be more efficient at 65-70

12:48 PM
I haven't maxed it yet...but I'm guessing it will happen at some point
@BMitch I think that's why you're seeing a lot of 6 speed automatics out right now

I was just happy to get a 5 speed transmission in my hyundai, but the impression I've had is that they tend to add more gears in the middle, rather than higher ratio OD gears.

@BMitch that may be true. I'm not sure, I haven't really looked into it

I blame the gubament.

@BMitch naturally :). But you're not wrong in this case.

@lsiunsuex Why would the American Anthropological Association (AAA) care about fuel usage?

12:59 PM
everyone is concerned about gas prices now adays

Wow, Tripod still exists!?

what happens if a self driving car takes you from a state that self driving cars are legal, into a state where their illegal ?

1:15 PM
@lsiunsuex it will have to become legal everywhere (or in a significantly contiguous region) for them to be commercially available
or they will have to have autopilot shutoffs that trigger via GPS at state lines

i would think they would be legal nation wide
if it works, and it proves to lower accidents / drunk driving, etc... why not
can go out to a bar solber, get trashed and let your car drive you home, not a taxi

A: What type of air conditioner can bring in outside air?

MattWhat you're after is an HVAC system. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. Excerpt from HVAC Wikipedia article: The three central functions of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning are interrelated, especially with the need to provide thermal comfort and acceptable indoor air...

So yesterday was too crazy to chime in here and mention it, but the new appliances arrived, and the old ones were removed yesterday.
Under the stove were a collection of cat toys... I don't own a cat.
Since the stove was gas, and a double oven, with an attachment to the exhaust at the top, and the cabinet built in around it, that thing hadn't been moved since the house was built.

@BMitch lol

The guys reminded me of some loony tunes characters when they removed the old appliances. They were dropping them all over the place. I should be nice and cleanup the glass that's in the parking lot.

@BMitch Better to find cat toys, than a cat.

I was happy not to find any dead animals or droppings, always worry about that behind an old appliance. But damn the place was nasty dusty. Thank goodness for shop vacs.

1:55 PM
that was quick - closed just this last winter
still dont know what happened - the owner of FWS is my uncles next door neighbor - i remember when he finally bought it he was so happy it finally happened
and then it closed like 2 years after

1 hour later…
3:17 PM
We finally have the answer to everyone's question...
@oscilatingcretin So THAT's what you're keeping in your soundproof room!!! — Chris Cudmore 2 hours ago
