hey guys, would I ask a question about consumer electronics repair here, or in electronics.sx?

@alexw Major appliances are on-topic here (refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, ovens, etc.). Smaller stuff isn't. Electrical Engineering has some specific rules about appliance repair: meta.electronics.stackexchange.com/search?q=appliance+repair
So there may not be a place on SE to ask.

yeah it is a question about soldering a cable...
solder.stackexchange.com

@NiallC. they basically asked us to encourage the community to generally use Romex with the "circled-R", to capitalize it, and to not use it to mean, "generic NMB cable". In my edit, I ignored the "R" request, because it looked weird, and not one does that. I'd generally suggest that it'd be better to use the capital "Romex" and to include "or other NMB", but mostly because they both make the post more accurate/useful, anyway...
that said, I don't think it's necessary to go change them all or anything. As a loose "best practice", it seems like a good idea. Make sense?

@Jaydles Yes, thank you. I'll look through the other posts that mention "Romex" to see if any could stand to be made generic, but it's good to know that we don't have to do it en masse.
