if you click on the "roomâ–¼" menu and go to "manage feeds" you can see the configuration.
All meta posts get added as chat messages. All non-meta posts are a temporary thing in the top left corner.
The idea is that if you want, you can be in this chat room and see questions that way.
It only tells you about new questions and not edits/new answers, though.
