Weird... Maybe an ongoing result of the above issue, but I clicked an HNQ link to get back to Home Improvement, and got a "this site is in read only mode" banner and I wasn't logged in. I hit back on the browser, then clicked the burger menu & selected Home Improvement. Got the site up, no banner and I was logged in as expected.

I just copy/pastad that comment onto the answer there to bring it to the staff/mod attention. Don't know if it will help or not, but it's been raised...
