Hello everyone! I am new to this music community. I am not a professional musician, but I am an active listener. I love listening to new things, asking different questions about music, about genres, and trying to understand their intricacies.
At the moment I am very interested in the genres of progressive rock, progressive metal and technical death metal. In the process of searching, I repeatedly came across messages about the connection between classical music and these genres, and in particular, about the great influence of the music of the classical composer Igor Stravinsky on the technical death metal. Is this just a joke, or is this influence taking place? If so, how does it manifest itself?

@dtn hello and welcome to the room
@dtn i am not a expert but i think @Malavika can help

Hello @Anthony

@dtn are you by any chance indian?

dtn
@Anthony no, I'm not an Indian, why are you asking this?

7:16 AM
@dtn this room happens to be supplementary to this main room

  Ragamalika

A chatroom for rasikas of Indian Classical and Light Music.
and this is for indian classical music

@Anthony When dtn posted their question in Sarvalaghu, I suggested that they post in the main chatroom for Music: Practice & Theory, “The Practice Room”, and in the same vein I also mentioned that we have some general musical chit-chat here :)
@Anthony and light music! ;)
(Although it’s questionable if “light music” has any well-defined meaning at all, hmm….)

@Namaskaram got any light music link at hand?
i don't know what that is

Someone once told me long ago that anything that is not pure classical but seems to have a strong basis in it is “light music”. My guess is that they meant that raga based film music should be called light music…? But nowadays I’m more and more convinced that the term has very little meaning.
But I’ll take that as an excuse to share what’s currently playing on my phone :D

@Namaskaram lmaoo

@Anthony ohh right. That episode may also have been the last one of GoT that I viewed with any interest. Because I remember nothing after that.
