Q: Does Potion of Maximum Power maximize all damage dice of a duration-based spell?

TheFallen0ne The first time you cast a damage-dealing spell of 4th level or lower within 1 minute after drinking the potion, instead of rolling dice to determine the damage dealt, you can instead use the highest number possible for each die. A fireball is simple and becomes an instant 48 damage. But would a...

Safety tools are critical in TTRPGs, especially with youth who are learning where other player boundaries are and how to navigate what they themselves are feeling. To help with this, check out the Deck of Player Safety for an awesome tool that provides a clear and anonymous safety tool method for your games. Q: Does the Alert feature allow a character to automatically detect pickpockets?

FolmhaighThe Alert feature states the following : Always on the lookout for danger, you gain the following benefits: You can't be surprised while you are conscious. You gain a +5 bonus to initiative. Other creatures don't gain advantage on attack rolls against you as a result of being unseen by you. A...

Do Pathfinder 1e familiars gain feats? I haven't found a reference to it anywhere, but all the familiar-focused feats seem meant to be taken by the master. On the other hand, that's true of eidolon-focused feats as well, and eidolons clearly get feats. Such a note is lacking for familiars, though.

@Phoenices Uh.. I don't think so? I think most rules for familiars would be with the core book... I know Animal Companions do get some upgrades, because it is called out with the druid. But I think Wizard Familiars don't get any.

Yeah, looks like not; there are rules to swap out the useless Weapon Finesse to a different starting familiar feat, like Extra Item Slot, but they seem to assume familiars get no more feats. Speaking of which, can I give any familiar the ability to use wands with its starting feat swapped into Extra Item Slot?

@Phoenices check what you need to use a wand. I doubt.

Hmm. Fair point. It says "A wand must be held in a hand (or whatever passes for a hand, for non-humanoid creatures)," and I've always heard that monkeys can use wands because they have hands & the body shape table confirms this. My assumption is that a "hand" item slot means that you can use wands, even when hands presumably only affect glove-wearing, since that table is just for what wondrous items you can wield.
RAW, it would seem that even more questionable forms work, like hawks (using "whatever passes for a hand"), but I'll see what the various optimization handbooks have to say about familiars and monkeys.
ooh also, it requires the ability to speak, so I'll need a Ring of Eloquence or the Sage familiar archetype and a point in Linguistics.

Why does the pathfinder 1e bat statblock have +6 to perception, while the owl has +10 to perception? Does the latter include the +4 racial bonus, while the former forgot about it? +10 seems to be right, as both have 1 skill point, 3 for a class skill, 2 wisdom and 4 racial.
