Am I missing something on this question?

It's literally just an item description and "Thoughts?" with no other questions or details...and it's one vote away from being reopened.

Folks are (possibly reasonably) assuming what the problem is.

"It's an item, so the question must be "is this balanced as an item?", because that's what all the other such questions are"

To which is the answer is (probably) that it isn't operating as an item (ie. being available in the equipment listing) it's in the same space as magic items (albeit not magical)

Though I'm reading at least one comment to say it's obviously about this as used by foes, which is a question that would need a lot more info to be answered

I suppose I should be putting this one the question, shouldn't I?

@PlayPatrice I'm not sure what "overpowered" means in the context of NPCs. We don't usually alk about NPCs being overpowered or underpowered, we usually do the math and say they are this or that challenge rating.

Perhaps it's just the game designer in me, but for many of the questions asked here I almost automatically start thinking of homebrew solutions to whatever problem the asker is having. Would providing a short bit of homebrew rules be an acceptable "answer" to a question? The clearest example is ...

As written - its effectively a magic weapon - giving two bonus feats, and a special effect property. Mainly the incapacitation - similar to sleep spell - without expendature of resources and destroying player economy. As far as awnsering with a homebrew - its easier in my head to adress problems evident by suggesting a solution as an example - than articulate each and every point that must be adressed.

@PlayPatrice My take is that the special features of the fork should be features of the creatures, not features of the forks. So when the PC picks it up and says "can I do that thing they did?", you can say "no, they have special fork training. At your next ASI you can take the fork training feat instead, if you like."

@Someone_Evil I'm not sure if you are telling me that my awnser is still unacceptable because it contains homebrew?

So what is it your trying to tell me?

Hmm. Trying to articulate my concern with the bounty messages meta. Essentially, that by collecting the funny things we like seeing, we change the funny things we like seeing, and may compromise our enjoyment of them.
• While I could and might write funny bounty messages, I am now influenced by the knowledge they might be collected, scored, and ranked for all time. My decision of whether to write something or not is also changed.
• When I do write a bounty message, I am now affected afterwards by whether or not it winds up in the hall of fame (depending on whether I expected it to go there)…

And, well, if I've got this stuff going on in my head, I expect others will have similar stuff going on in theirs.

Ultimately I think establishing a ranked and scored list of jokes changes the context those jokes exist in and establishes some competitive context and gravity they were previously completely independent of. A joke bounty message was previously solely just for the whimsy, now it won't be.
