Morning all

@nitsua60 Apparently people aren't familiar with the Evil Dead franchise?
@Ben [wave]

Ben
Wrote up my first draft of the new Corruption system. Currently omitted the effects of each degree, but I've got the basics down.
I also made a few notes about potential changes required.

Nice.

Q: Can the Flaming Sphere spell be rammed into multiple Tiny creatures that are in the same 5-foot square?

MerudoThe text of the Flaming Sphere spell says that "If you ram the sphere into a creature, that creature must make the saving throw against the sphere's damage". Can I ram a Flaming Sphere into multiple tiny creatures, if they occupy the same 5' by 5' square? I see nothing forbidding the sphere fro...

Q: Can a sorcerer use careful spell on himself?

Jorge CórdobaCareful spell metamagic states “other creatures”. When you cast a spell that forces other creatures to make a saving throw, you can protect some of those creatures from the spell full force. To do so, you spend 1 sorcery point and choose a member of those creatures up to your Charisma m...

There's an upcoming product by WizKids releasing in July 2019 called "Three-Dragon Ante: Legendary Edition". It's apparently an updated version of creator Rob Heinsoo's original Three-Dragon Ante game from 2005. It's an actual card game based on the game mentioned/listed in D&D, and can be played standalone (or, if you want, have the players actually play it when their characters do so). More info about the original game here:
Three-Dragon Ante (ISBN 0-7869-4072-7) is a card game developed by Rob Heinsoo, and published by Wizards of the Coast in November 2005. The game is a combination of luck and skill, and blends concepts from traditional card games such as poker, hearts, and rummy. Based on Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), it is intended as a game in its own right or as an element in a role-playing campaign, and appears in some versions of D&D as a game played by the wealthy for money. In April 2010, Wizards of the Coast released a follow up game, Three-Dragon Ante: Emperor's Gambit, which added additional dragon types...
Creator Rob Heinsoo made a blog post summarizing the major changes here:

Pathfinder cheesing question:

Q: What rules forbid this sequence of events in combat, if any?

Momonga-samaAfter a fiery dispute with another player about why you shouldn't be able to cheese a magus to both use spell combat and 2-handed attack with only 2 arms, I came up with an equivalent for non-magic user: Wield a one-handed weapon. Change grip to wield it two-handed with offhand as well. Attack...

Q: Does the Black Tentacles spell do damage twice at the start of turn to an already restrained creature?

MerudoThe spell Black Tentacles (listed as Evard's Black Tentacles on PHB p. 238) has the following text: When a creature enters the affected area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, the creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 3d6 bludgeoning damage and be r...

Q: Creating a body for the spirit of a magic item?

SamOkay so In the campaign I'm currently playing in the party found a magic sword (Dawnbringer, Sun Blade). The sword has it's own personality, spirit or soul whatever you'd call it. Anyway the group didn't really need the sword so we just kinda ended up talking to it a lot. In our last session we t...

Question
still trying to figure out a mechanical place for an intrigue campaign
well system

@GeoffreyLim -- what sort of intrigue, I guess?
are we talking the more classical, relationships/personal-power centered political intrigue here?
or something more centered around systems and motives?

Systems and motives, political manuvering in what people have joked is a thinly veiled post revolutionary france.
idea is that the revolutionary fight has been won
the rebels win
now they have to govern
The players play minor political military ish officers in the new government and are parts of minor camps
well factions within the Rebels that are now kinda splintering because no big bad

so, sounds like the birth of a parliament, complete with political parties :D

(pro rebel tip: have a good idea of what the new gov't's going to look like before you start throwing out the old one. XD)

6:27 PM
I would also suggest "Legacy", specifically the "Worldfall" setting; it's a game where you track both organizations and people, and can troupe it up by quickgenning characters if one faction's player thinks it's going to spin up a squad for something.

basically yeah, kinda inspired by too many listens to Hamilton?
how does it handle combat?
I"m not that familiar with PBTA
Well one idea that I want to keep central is the eternal temptation to resort to stabbing each other in the face
This is still a newly post war society and the players do still have command of some troops
That niggling temptation to go, "Yeah no, facestab"
even if it is a bad idea.tm
Also the person who led the rebels to victory, isn't a leader
so he can't step in to organise stuff
well lead
Players are minor officers and the Stability Council while in charge and organised, are a bit headless

When you try to hurt, capture, or rout your enemies and you have the force to do it, roll +force. On a hit, you do it, then pick 1 from each list. On a 7-9, the GM picks one more, on a 10+ the player picks one more.

Players can: make a clean getaway, frighten or dismay the enemy, loot something valuable, learn something important.
GMs can: hurt something important to the player, send more forces after them, inflict harm back, escalate circumstances to chaos.

aaaah
blargh, reading through the book the families thing
I don't know
doesn't feel right?
I guess

6:40 PM
Yeah, one of the reasons I suggested Worldfall is that its "families" are probably better-suited for the aftermath of a revolution.
You'll just need to file off the part where it's Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, but that's not too tightly integrated.
Or do you mean you don't want your players to be making decisions that steer their organizations around?

At the very least not at the start
I mean later yeah sure
but at the start they have a small loyal group of soldiers and a minor voice in their organisation.

Q: Should we add [sentient-magic-items] as a synonym of the [intelligent-magic-items] tag?

V2BlastRight now, the intelligent-magic-items tag exists, with the tag info: For questions about intelligent or sentient magic items. (In D&D 5e, at least, these are referred to in the DMG (p. 214) as sentient magic items.) However, though the two terms are very similar and refer to the same type...

this question seems like it must be a dupe of another question here. At least one.
Though it might just be too broad right now. Too few details and no system information.

Q: Can you force honesty by using the Speak with Dead and Zone of Truth spells together?

BisonBellowI have some players that I know are going to try and force some information out of a hostile NPC that they just recently killed and use the information to target another group and call for their arrest and/or execution. I'd like to make it as difficult as possible, or even just flat out have the ...

Happy First Day of Ridván!

@Rubiksmoose yeah, definitely seems like it's been asked before for some system, so knowing the OP's system is helpful here
Riḍván (Arabic: رضوان‎ Riḍwán; Persian transliteration: Riḍván, Persian pronunciation: [ɾezvɒːn]) is a twelve-day festival in the Bahá'í Faith, commemorating Bahá'u'lláh's declaration that he was a Manifestation of God. In the Bahá'í Calendar, it begins at sunset on the 13th of Jalál, which translates to the 20th or 21st of April, depending on the date of the March equinox (exactly one month on the Gregorian calendar after the equinox). On the first, ninth and twelfth days of Ridván, work and school should be suspended."Ridván" means paradise, and is named for the Garden of Ridván outside Baghdad...
