Something like that? I'm not actually clear on how these investment arrangements usually tend to work - I have yet to commence proper study on how investment works - but just a site to make it easier to put those arrangements in place that people already create, and connect projects wanting funding to people wanting to provide it.
Note that everything this user has ever posted has looked like this. Any legibility is the work of another user who tried to salvage something by editing.
in our retrieval effort, one of the Dark Eldar came with us (to keep an eye on us?) and he has revealed that he is willing to betray his captian and what remains of his crew to get his hands on the orb
unfortunately, not possible.
It's a here and now situation, we tried stalling, but no good
I have come across a bit of a stressful situation in-game, and I want to know if anyone might be able to give some suggestions as to what I might be able to do.
Trouble is, from that explanation, a lot of people are immediately going to say "No, too broad." But what if I have the situation figur...
They have the only ship out of here. We're in deep space, and it really is just us or them. However, they're faster than us, and being space pirates, have most likely rigged the ship in case anything goes awry
Unfortunately the best way I can see this going is to let the Eldar on our team (let's call him Bob) take the orb. (He mentioned he was willing to betray his leader), and then pray to the Machine God he follows through.
That way, if Bob betrays his party, it's an even match (somewhat). 4 of us, and 4 of them.
Demon as contingency plan. "You hide in this bag, and we open it up when the time comes. You kill the eldar and get those delicious brains/organs you happen to desire and we get to live."
I don't think that's an option at this point anymore. One of our previous teammates (Bob's old character) just died trying to kill the ones we summoned.
A lot of WH40k is about circumstance, so, possibly try to find some circumstance where forcing the betrayal works out? Say, line it up to where you can take out one or two of the Dark Eldar while the deal is being done?
I'm thinking that's the case. I really... really hope I can get the jump on them when they're otherwise occupied with the orb. But, the way our luck has gone, It's probably going to turn them into an Avatar or something... haha

Does anyone have any suggestions for writing work that should theoretically be published. I'm currently talking to someone about working on a project that will likely get published to drivethrurpg and seen by no one, but I want to give it my best shot. Ideal production would be something akin to Pathfinder, where we release a module that introduces you to part of a world, and a player's guide.
I found this - rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/1128/… but as the world is fairly developed, doesn't apply 100 percent. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Also, if people feel that this would be suited for an actual question, let me know. I couldn't think of a specific reason it wouldn't work, but it just didn't seem like it fit for some reason.
hooray \o/ we are now in direct confrontation/discussion mode with glanth
this might be productive
@Tarmikos11 The Oracle announces meta questions. Every chat room can subscribe to site question feeds: the main site's feed, the meta site's feed, specific tags' feeds, etc. These can either come in the form of a ticker (in the top left), or be announced by a bot in a chat message. Our bot is named the Oracle as a sort of easter egg. (Most other sites just have this bot)
@Miniman yes, that is up to them, but it's finally surpassed a point of just them leaving a bunch of answers and questions and not responding to our comments
it's at the point where they are directly confronting us with their issues, and so we are able to directly confront them
also a very foreign idea of communication? it's possible they've never really written stuff like what we write and have not developed the skills for it
@doppelgreener I dunno, from the way they went on about drafts it seems like they understand content on this site is meant to be polished writing. That said, all the edits that have fixed their posts have been from other people, so maybe they have an idea that they can just post a mess and have it edited into legibility?
@Miniman Possible workaround... make 2 edits. First fixing the mistakes & adding enough extra characters to pass the minimum. Second removing the extra characters from the first edit.
@trogdor from the way they use punctuation and almost no spaces or paragraph breaks, either they have not read much English at all, or they have never put much mental effort in trying to understand the rules behind it
or they have some kind of genuine learning difficulty, which is entirely possible
@doppelgreener I don't mean to come off as thinking I know whats going on or anything, I think I have just gotten sick of them posting these ridiculous perversions of the language I speak.
@trogdor none of us really know what's going on, it's like an illiterate juggernaut has come charging through all our walls roaring incoherently, and we're here as bystanders yelling "please don't do that" and straightening things out in their wake
@trogdor well yes, but now that they have come straight to us, finally there is some two-way communication going on. they're actually there ready to receive our responses, rather than wondering what all the yelling from those people around them is for.
@trogdor Oh right. Sorry, I thought you were saying that the answers/comments were going in a wrong direction, rather than just the fundamental wrongness of the question.
I think the asker here is searching for some hint as to what the developers were imagining when labelling the attacks 'Slam', probably from official sources or whatever will do. Naturally, it can come down to DM fiat, but it's not useful to suggest that straight away. "There's no indication of what the developers mean, nobody has any idea, the developers looked at us stunned when we asked them, then asked the doors and shouted that nobody was there when we knocked on them. You'll just have to use DM fiat." would be useful because it establishes there's nothing before recommending fiat. — doppelgreener1 min ago
sometimes I have fun writing comments
whoops, closed* the doors
@trogdor well, there's also that they seem to think that everything they have done is perfectly reasonable: that their errors are small, that it's a first draft so it's ok, etc, and we're responding: "this isn't ok."
Is there a list somewhere of all the common vulnerabilities of monsters for 3.5e? ie, things that bypass DR or inflict extra damage
I've had this idea for ages (since 2e I think?) of a "slayer" type character that has a single weapon that exploits as many vulnerabilities as possible
@Adeptus if you're after the elements that are the most effective in terms of most common vulnerability and least common resistance, you can probably do better by asking that
because then people can say stuff like "so, like, half the creatures have fire resistance, but if you do {thing} you don't even have to care. almost nothing has sonic resistance. the 2nd in the running is technically {some damage type}, but you'll rarely see monsters using it because {reasons}, so you might as well ignore that and consider {other damage type} to be 2nd in the running." etc
i am far from experienced in D&D 3.5e, so what I said might be totally wrong, but I think sonic is one of the better ones for certain purposes. so, yeah, ask about that slayer concept instead of the list.
ah, so like, a character who has, say, a forked sword with one blade of cold iron and one blade of silver, except at a much greater level enveloping lots more vulnerabilities?
@Magician Not unless it's specifically listed that way (and many aren't) - Attacks from weapons that are not made of the correct material have their damage reduced, even if the weapon has an enhancement bonus.
ok, so having found a nice monster search the DR bypassers for the SRD monsters are either materials (silver, cold iron, adamantine), types (piercing, slashing, bludgeoning), alignment, or magic. And sometimes more than one.
so you'd make a slayer with an adamantium sword, and when someone else is fighting the werewolf with a specifically-crafted silver dagger, you'd think "aww, that's cute" and lop its head off with adamantium
So, I think my slayer weapon has to be a double weapon... with all of piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning... and all of silver, cold iron, & adamantine. Hmm... triple weapon? :P
> Until you have access to the full treasure system in the Dungeon Master's Guide, here's a simple system that provides reasonably balanced results. Feel free to deviate from the tables below for variety or to suit the needs of your specific campaign.
Minor magic weapons are +1 or +2-equivalent, I see.
@Magician Yeah, I'm imagining a sword that changed metal depending on what it was attacking. Changing between piercing/slashing/bludgeoning is trickier though, at that point it's basically just a shapeshifter who's allowing themselves to be wielded
> Additionally, the monk gains damage reduction 20/+1. This means that the monk ignores (instantly regenerates) the first 20 points of damage from any attack unless the damage is dealt by a weapon with a +1 enhancement bonus (or better), by a spell, or by a form of energy (fire, cold, etc.).
Interestingly, this means anyone with a masterwork weapon or better hits for full damage.
Looking at double weapons, the dwarven urgrosh is piercing/slashing (axe & spear heads), and the gnome hook hammer is bludgeon/pierce. Two out of three...
Also the morningstar is bludgeon/pierce, and the dagger is pierce/slash
Oh, my mistake. The text reads that a masterwork weapon has a "+1 bonus to attack rolls", so untyped, and it "does not stack with an enhancement bonus to attack".
Real warhammers often had a spike on the back, though they're only listed as bludgeoning...
OK, custom weapon: Double weapon, realistic warhammer head (B/P) one end, sword or axe (S) the other. Adamantine hammer head, silvered spike, & cold iron sword/axe blade. Then enchant & align the whole thing.
High Concept: I am Groot. Trouble: I am Groot. Aspect: I am Groot. Aspect: I am Groot. Aspect: I am Groot. Groot +1 Groot +2 Groot +0 Groot +1 Groot +3 Groot +2 Because I am Groot, I get +2 when making physical attacks with my body. Because I am Groot, I can interact with objects up to one zone away. Because I am Groot, once per session between scenes I can reduce the severity of a physical consequence I suffer by two shifts.
In the comics he can talk "normally" when he's a sproutling, before his vocal cords are solidified into their adult configuration. And when telepaths communicate with him, he turns out to be extremely eloquent and intelligent.
In the film, it's "I am Groot" and once, "We are Groot."

What I'm saying is, wizards need to get a six-year-old as their monster design consultant, because the owlbear is about the least frightening combination of owl and bear it's possible to come up with.
