Here are the results of doing such an analysis
That was with the first word list I could find (22k) but looking over it, it seems like there are some inflected forms, so if anyone knows of a good French word list with just lemmas or something I'll rerun the script and update the sheet
(the inflected forms problem no doubt skews the # of starts per end far upwards)
or maybe Python's nltk has a lemmatizer for French? I've only ever used it in English
