24 HOURS REMAIN
So this morning, I saw a bit of canine acrobatics.
Dog (on leash) tried to jump out in front of car. Owner yanked on leash. Dog went flying and flailing.
Probably almost choked the dog, but understandable under the circumstances.

1:33 PM
I accidently did a similar thing once. I wanted to get my dog used to walking next to a bike. So cycling really slow I had to concentrate on not falling over and didn't notice where exactly my dog went. Unfortunately she went left of the lamp post while I went right... The leash yanked my hand around, which of course gripped the handlebars, which of course send the bike spiraling. The result was both of us lying on the floor staring at each other.

Pfft. Poor dog. And bike. :P
But yeah. This was a big, pointer dog, too. Owner must've been strong to counteract the jumping force.
That or pure adrenaline!

Pure adrenaline can accomplish a lot

Yup.
So, how are people?

3 hours later…
5:03 PM
@Sarov armed with an audio book, ready to tackle the results of an afternoon of mushroom foraging.
Yikes, that poor cat and the <insert disapproving adjective of your choice> vet. Not even bothering to see the cat or at least give clear instructions.

5:22 PM
@Stephie ?

5:48 PM
@Sarov Two questions on main. Cat with torn off toe pad.

@Stephie Yeah, I feel really bad for the OP. It doesn't feel fair to close the second question, they seem really desperate and the vet seems ignorant.

@Elmy can’t a “what to be aware of when treating wounds” be ok? It’s neither urgent nor beyond what an owner can do alone?

@Stephie I also feel like the new question is more on-topic than the first one. OP made their situation clear and have already contacted a vet. We probably would allow the same question if they said "I'm in the middle of rural Nowhere and there is no vet around".

I take my kids to the ER only when the wound is beyond my “I can do that with my first aid box” abilities, e.g. needs stitches, x-ray or further examination.
Like the two-inch, half-inch deep slash minor 1 gave himself two weeks ago. Drove over, got him stitched up. Aftercare was dealt with chez nous again.

I'm just afraid that whatever tissue is still hanging from the wound needs to be removed. If I were in OP's situation, I would probably have to solve this somehow, but I'm not comfortable giving them any advice regarding the procedure, especially since I cannot even see what exactly it is that's still hangin on.

8:37 PM
Same thought. It’s the “discoloration” that screams “removal”.
There’s a small chance it’s just going to shrivel up and fall off, if severed enough. But that’s also speculation.
