Q: What does the word "seem" mean in these lines of Shakespeare?

J. WuIn Shakespeare's Othello 3.1.26, the Clown answers Cassio: She is stirring, sir; if she will stir hither, I shall seem to notify unto her. where the verb "seem" makes me confused. The common usage "To be suitable to" (OED IV.I) or "To have a semblance or appearance" (OED IV.II) may not befit th...

Q: What does Regan mean by "square of sense" in King Lear?

BeatsMeThe exact meaning of the following phrase in bold is not clear to me. In the first scene of King Lear, Regan utters these words to her father with flattery. I'm not sure but I think I read somewhere that "the most precious square of sense" refers to "the four nobler senses". But what does "square"...

Would it be appropriate to use for an which centers largely on the use of capitalization? literature.stackexchange.com/questions/2807/…

3:07 PM
@bobble seems very appropriate from reading the tag wikis

4:04 PM
@Spagirl Congrats on the silver tag badge!
You're only the third person to get one on the whole site, after Gareth and Tsundoku.
I'm a wee bit behind you to hopefully become the fourth soon :-)

5:03 PM
@Randal'Thor thank you! I didn’t even know I was close until you mentioned it. I wasn’t aware I answered so many ‘meaningful’ questions.

@bobble I would say no, as it's not a question about orthography. Would we use e.g. for an ID question about a translated work, even if its translation was so memorable as to be the main distinctive feature of the question?

7:14 PM
@Spagirl Another target for you: if this quarter's rep rates stay consistent, you'll overtake Matt Thrower by the end of the year and @AncientSwordRage will need to rent another plane.

@Randal'Thor I think if the translation style was required for the identification... Maybe?
@Randal'Thor they get expensive fast

7:37 PM
@Randal'Thor that’s a very large ‘if’…

8:13 PM
At least another 800 rep to make Lit your top site would be nice :-)

@Bookworm This seems to have gone HNQ.

@Randal'Thor I was going to write exactly the same thing :-D
Looks like Maltese literature will be the next topic challenge.
