Emoticons were introduced in 1982. Today I started reading The Time Machine and I saw this line in the first page:

Imagination was important for British Romantics. Do you know why did they give such importance to it?
He is like a shadow or thin air, saying nothing and doing nothing more than eating, so he has no use in the development of the whole story, but why does the author put such a man in the novel?
