@bobble I was the one who starred this message, to give it more visibility. But I haven't posted an answer because my gut feeling is they should all be on-topic, assuming they're objectively answerable (why not? our community has the requisite expertise in literary devices) but I'm not quite sure how to argue it in a meta post, especially since I haven't really seen any off-topic arguments to make counter-arguments against.

@verbose The myth that Napoleon was short is hard to eradicate. French "feet" were longer than the British ones, and the British gave his height in English feet without converting the units. They literally belittled him.

"Common knowledge" is wrong about many things about the past. E.g. during the Middle Ages, people did not generally think the earth was flat. Witch burning was much more a thing of the Renaissance. And chastity belts didn't exist either, as far as I know.
